Command: Print/Setup/Printer < PSP >
Purpose: Control the printer's internal status
Information:
This option presents the current printer driver and the
command window to access the available selections.
Selections in some drivers are:
Font selection
Margin setting
Horizontal character spacing or pitch
Vertical line spacing
Downloadable block characters
Variable settings like margins require an increment from you
after you select them. Variable setting features recorded
in the Printer Recorder will request the increment at
printing time.
Comments:
Horizontal and vertical spacing is automatically set in
graphics modes.
Each printer driver is different based on available features
in the printer.

Command: Print/Setup/Recorder Setup < PSR >
Purpose: Switch--Control sending of current recording
Information:
The Printer Setup Recorder sends up to six selections from
the current printer driver to the printer each time a
weaving or design is printed.
When this switch is ON, the setup codes are sent; when it is
OFF, they are not sent.
Comments:
You could turn the recorder ON for text mode printouts to
automatically download block characters and set a margin,
but turn the recorder OFF for graphics mode printouts.

Command: Print/Setup/Define Setup < PSD >
Purpose: Select the printer driver options to record
Information:
An ASCII code (American Standard Code for Information
Interchange) is a number which stands for a character or
other symbol and is transmitted to the printer to print the
corresponding character.
Special series of ASCII codes can change the printer's
margin settings and other aspects of its current status.
Each option on the Printer Driver represents a series of
ASCII codes which are sent to the printer to set it up.
This feature presents the Printer Driver screen also shown
with Print/Setup/Printer along with a display of the current
recording. You can then re-record up to six options.
Comments:
The same printer setup recording may be appropriate for many
weavings. The setup is saved with all weavings.
A setup recorded for one printer driver will yield
unpredictable results for a different driver.
After you Define Setup, turn Recorder Setup ON so the codes
are sent to the printer at printing time.

Command: Print/Setup/ASCII Codes < PSA >
Purpose: Send ASCII codes to the printer immediately
Information:
See Print/Setup/Define Setup for definition of ASCII code.
With this feature ASCII codes are transmitted immediately
to the printer. This allows you to test the affect of a
command string before adding it to a printer driver.
Comments:
For example, if you always set the left margin to 34, you
could add the codes for that setting as a menu selection.
You can edit Patternland printer drivers with a word
processor that produces ASCII files or append lines with
File/Write. Many drivers have unused menu options you can
use, or you can redefine one you don't use. See the driver
"Standard.PDV" for more information on format.

Command: Print/Setup/Immediate Form Feed < PSI >
Purpose: Send ASCII code #12, causing the page to advance
Information:
Ejects the current page.
Comments:
You can also eject a page by taking your printer off-line
and pressing its FormFeed button.
Print/Modes/Automatic Form Feed controls whether or not the
page is advanced after each printout.

Command: Print/Setup/Sample Setup Printout < PSS >
Purpose: Print several lines to show current setup
Information:
Prints several lines of a selection of characters.
Comments:
You can check the character pitch, line feed, margin, and
downloaded characters with the sample printout.

_______________________________________________________________
Command: Print/Setup/Characters Printout < PSC >
Purpose: Print a range of ASCII codes/characters
Information:
You can specify which characters to print, how many
characters per line, and how many lines per character.
Comments:
This allows you to see your printer's graphics characters.

Command: Print/Setup/Load Printer Driver < PSL >
Purpose: Use a different driver than installed driver
Information:
You can control any of the supported printers simply by
loading the appropriate driver file from disk.
Setup/Printers just copies the appropriate file to a new
file called Patland.PDV. Patternland always reads the
current Patland.PDV file on startup.
Comments:
This feature allows you to use several different printers,
for example a Laserjet and a color dot matrix.
You might want several drivers for the same printer if you
create your own selection of downloadable blocks. You could
use several different drivers with this feature.
