Command: Symbol/Warp Symbols/Multi-Warp Symbols < SAM >
Purpose: SWITCH: Toggle Multi-Warp Symbol ON/OFF
Information:
With Multi-Warp Symbols ON, you can pick one of sixteen

of the symbol set, the symbol number for each thread is its
variable magnification SIZE for graphics displays.
Multi-Symbol Mode must be ON in order to edit the symbol
number of a warp thread.
With this switch ON and the SCROLL LOCK key ON, the symbols
are changed in the editor by pressing the function keys and
top-row number keys.

Command: Symbol/Warp Symbols/Edit Symbol Set < SAE >
Purpose: Select the symbol set used for multi-warp weaving
Information:
With Symbol Weave ON, these symbols are used to represent
the warp in the editor and text mode displays.
Warp threads with Symbol number one display as the
text Symbol contained in Symbol Set Character #1.
The default symbol set uses line drawing characters for the
first 5 symbols, each one representing a thicker thread,
since the symbol number is also the graphic variable
magnification SIZE. The symbols above 5 are the NumSet.PSM
symbols (see below).
A second symbol set file is numeric 1-9 and A-G. The
filename is "NumSet.PSM." You can load it with Symbol/Load.
A third visually oriented set of characters is provided in
the file CharSet.PSM.
Comments:
An extensive display of all possible video characters is
provided for reference while you change the symbol set.
Changing the Symbol Set itself does not affect the existing
Warp symbol number selections. A warp thread of symbol 6,
for example, will display as whatever character the current
symbol set uses as character #6.

automatically reset that threads symbol number to the

Command: Symbol/Use Working Symbol < SU >
Purpose: SWITCH: Toggle use of Working Symbol ON or OFF
Information:
With Use Working Symbol ON, the Working Warp or Weft symbols
are used for all editing of warp or weft. With this
feature, you can select Working Symbol 3, for example, and
all changes you make to threading or treadling will also
reset warp or weft thread to symbol/Size 3.
The Working symbol is also used for insertion and addition
of new warp and weft threads.
Comments:
The Working Symbol is like the Working Color.

Command: Symbol/Save or Load < SS or SL >
Purpose: File the multi-symbol sets only.
Information:
The Symbols filename has format [name].PSM; the suffix
stands for Patternland SyMbols. The file contains warp and
weft symbol sets only.
When you save or load a weaving, the symbol sets are saved
automatically in the weaving file. This file is useful if
you want to use a variety of symbol sets with the same
weaving file.
When you chose Symbol/Load, a directory of all symbol files
is provided for you to pick from. See the help for
File/Load for more details on how the Pick screen works.
Comments:
Several symbol files are provided with Light Weave:
The standard set, provided on disk as Threads.PSM, is like
Numbset.PSM (see below), except that the first 5 symbols are
chosen to represent thicker and thicker warp and weft
threads. Sumbols above 5 are identical to Numbset.PSM.
Numbset.PSM set consists of the numerals 1-9
followed by characters A-G. The purpose is to indicate the
variable magnification factor for each thread since the
symbol selection is also the variable magnification for
display graphics.
An additional symbol set called CharSet.psm provides an
alternative character set.
