Command: Weave/Edit < WE >
Purpose: Select Edit Only mode or return to the editor.
Information:
Light Weave allows you to combine editing a draft with
controlling a loom, or to edit the draft only. In Edit Only
mode, you see four windows in Treadle Mode and three for
Lift Plan editing: the pattern window, the threading
window, and either the treadling and tieup windows or the
lift plan window.
In Weave Mode, you will see an additional window for the
CAW (Computer-Aided-Weaving) weft pointer.
This option switches you to Edit only mode if the CAW window
is present, or closes the menu and jumps to editing if Edit
only mode is already active.
Comments:
The ACTIVE edit window is highlighted by a double line
frame. Use the Tab key to jump between windows.

Command: Weave/Weave < WE >
Purpose: Select Weave with Edit mode or resume weaving.
Information:
Light Weave allows you to weave to your loom, jump to the
weft or warp editor for a quick revision, and jump back to
loom control. In Weave Mode, both the Loom control window
and the edit windows are available.
This option switches you to Weave with Edit mode if the CAW
window is not present, or closes the menu and jumps to loom
control if the CAW window is already active.
Comments:
The ACTIVE edit window is highlighted by a double line
frame.

Command: Weave/Treadle Mode < WT >
Purpose: Switch--Control method of weft creation and editing.
Information:
Light Weave editing works through tieup and treadling
windows or through a lift plan (peg plan) window that allows
editing the harness combinations themselves for each weft
row.
When Treadle Mode is ON, treadles and tieups are presented;
when it is OFF, the lift plan harness combinations are
accessible.
Comments:
Patternland uses the harness combinations for each row to
calculate the pattern draft and control the loom interface.
Thus you are not limited by the 64-treadle limit to 64
different harness combinations. The number of combinations
is limited solely by the 8 harness limit of Light Weave or
the 16 harness limit of Light Weave 16. That means 2 to the
8th or 16th power, which works out to 256 or 65536 possible
harness combinations (subtract 2 for the all-up or all-down
positions).
When you edit the treadling in Treadle Mode, Patternland
alters weft harness combinations as you go, based on the
current Tieups; similarly, when you edit the tieups, the
entire weft is recalculated with each change.
When you edit the Lift Plan directly with Treadle Mode OFF,
Patternland proceeds without altering the "background"
treadling and tieup--UNTIL you switch back to Treadle Mode.
When you reactivate Treadle Mode, Patternland proceeds with
an automatic "Magic Tieup": it analyzes the lift plan and,
using the existing tieups if any, creates a treadling and
new tieups as needed--up to 64 tieups. If there are more
than 64 distinct weft harness combinations, Light Weave
issues a "Woops!" message and marks the rows it was unable
to treadle with an HC! for "Harness Combinations!"
These HC! rows can still be woven to the loom as they are,
and you may be able to hand figure two combined treadles
which would weave the row on a manual loom.

Command: Weave/Display Pattern < WD >
Purpose: Text mode scrollable display of weaving.
Information:
This expands the Weave Editor's Pattern window to full
screen and allows you to scroll around the weaving.
Press the help key <?> for available commands while you
are scrolling the weaving.
The settings of Weave/Styles, Color/Color Weave, and
Symbol/Warp-Weft/Multi-Symbol all affect the weaving's
appearance.
Scroll Weaving uses the current ranges; it cannot scroll
beyond them.
Comments:
No editing or EGA/VGA palette adjustments from Scroll
Weaving.

Command: Weave/Range < WR >
Purpose: Change warp and weft ranges.
Information:
Ranges are NOT the SIZE of a weaving--they are simply a way
of identifying a section of the weaving. Warp and Weft range
windows are presented for you to set the lower and higher
limits to edit or display.
Allowable range is limited by current warp and weft size.
Comments:
Use New/Size to change actual weaving size.
Normally, the range will equal the weaving size.
Graph/Range also sets the ranges--and then graphs the
weaving.

Command: Weave/Range/Warp < WRA >
Purpose: Change warp range.
Information:
Allowable range is limited by current warp size. Use
New/Size/Warp to change actual weaving size.
Comments:
Normally, the warp range will be 1 to the warp limit.

Command: Weave/Range/Weft < WRE >
Purpose: Change weft range.
Information:
Allowable range is limited by current weft limit. Use
Edit/Weft/Size to change actual weaving size.
Comments:
Normally, the weft range will be 1 to weft limit.

Command: Weave/Styles < WS >
Purpose: Menu--Change editing and display styles.
Information:
Menu includes control of window placement; use of
numberlines; numeric representation of data; selection of
board style or grid background; character width; and EGA/VGA
43-/50-line mode.
Comments:
EGA/VGA mode requires an EGA/VGA display and selection of
display 5, 6, or 8 under Install/Displays.
Wide blocks allows Numeric ON to use 2-digit numerals for
harnesses 10-16, instead of the letters A...F for numbers
above 9.

Command: Weave/Loom Setup < WL >
Purpose: Menu--Control Computer-Aided-Weaving features.
Information:
This menu lets you control the beginning weave row;
the direction of weaving; simulation mode; inversion of
lifts; and the parallel port to use to connect your loom.
Comments:
Simulation mode provides a view of the loom control window
for those without a loom connection.
