  7.     HOW NOT TO GET CAUGHT MAKING FAXE CREDIT CARD CALLS

  9.     Bell Telephone, subsidiery of AT&T with 1970 assets of $49.6 Billion, the world's big-
  10.     gest pig corporation, is losing millions monthly on fake credit card calls. They are not
  11.     tak~ng it lightly. The~r methods of attempted repression would make the FBI proud. Here's
  12.     how they work it.

  14.     F'rst, the phone company somet~mes makes the operator that took a fake cred~t call at-
  15.     tempt to trace the caller. They tell her/him that they will take the cost of the call out
  16.     of their salary if she doean't try to find out who made the call. The operator will call
  17.     the n=mber that you placed the call to, attempting to track you down. Obviously only make
  18.     cred~t card calls to people you trust not to reveal your ~dent~ty. When an operator calls
  19.     you ~nquiring about a credit card call, hsve a story ready. If she (or he) sounds friendly,
  20.     use a story like, "I only know their first name was George and he was calling from Boston,
  21.     operator." If a nasty supervisor bitch calls, be nasty offensive. You don't hsve to give
  22.     out anY informat~on. Usually they want to know whose name the number is l~sted under. Let
  23.     them find out the hard way. Sometimes they aak if your mother is home. Sometimes they
  24.     guess who called and bill them by examining the past accounts of the person called to see
  25.     who has called previously from the same city as the credit card call was made from. Some-
  26.     times they bill the n~mber called. Somet~mes they put ~t on the bill as a third party charge
  27.     or a collect call. REFUSE TO PAY. Keep track of the calls you actually do make and the
  28.     cred~t card calls you receive (so you can refuse to psy them).

  30.     If the operator gets a lead to who made the credit card call, she turns the name over to
  31.     the telephone security division. They hsve special security pigs that can spend their full
  32.     time tracking us down. They will stop at nothing. They stakeout phone booths; don't always
  33.     use the same locat~on to call from. In some states they are allowed to tap your phone if
  34.     
  35.     there is a case of "defrauding the phone co." And of course they tsp phones in all states
  36.     whether they are allowed to or not. Their easist v~cLims are highschool and university
  37.     pooplc. Thcy investigate wich the cooperation of the school pigs. In high schools they
  38.     work v:ich tI~e principal. Tl~ey call the suspected person into the offic~ and give her/him
  39.     the thir:, degree, promising not to prosecute if they will tell the pigs everyone else mak-
  40.     Divide and conquor it's called. At universities, the sPecia1

  43.     telephone secority pigs work in conjunction with the campus cops. They may follow you
  44.     aronnd and attempt to question you. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TELL THEM ANYTHIN&' Refuse to
  45.     talk without your l~wyer present. Above a1l, do not sign anything. They try to get you
  46.     to sign ~ confession just like in the movies. Don't be intimidated by these junior facists'
  47.     Throw tor.~toes at them; put sugar in their gas tanks. All power to the imegination!

  49.     The way wc~ make credit card calls is as important as knowing the system. Operators take
  50.     many real credit card calls daily and know what the average call sounds likeO The average
  51.     caller is Mr. or Mrse Pig Businessperson. Ihey come on fast and usually have the number
  52.     memorized. It sounds suspiciaus if you sonnds suspicious if you sound like you are reading
  53.     it off, or ~f you say, "841 dash 7767 dash 167N." The beginning numbers are a phone number
  54.

  56.     opener 1s, "Operator, credit card call. My number is 893 4452 359J. The number I wish to
  57.     call is 777-8787." Don't hesitate, memorize your credit card number, and have all the info
  58.     handy.

  60.     Do not call from your home phone. When making a credit card call, you do not have to
  61.     give the operator the number you are calling from. If she asks, change the last digit or two.

  63.     and shouid be read as '641 7767t with the last Part read as a sin~le unit. 167N.

  71.     operators usually only know the pretix you are calling from. She m~y say hold on, and call
  72.     the nu~iter you give to see if it's busy. So if you cal1 from a pay phone, which you should
  73.     give her the number of your pay phone, it's cool.
