DC ASCII Dump v1.0
Copyright (c) 1991 Double Click Software
Program by Keith Gerdes and Michael B. Vederman
DC ASCII Dump v1.0 is a FREEWARE program. A FREEWARE program is one which you may
freely distribute, but you cannot charge for it or alter the program or
contents of the documentation in any manner. Double Click Software retains
all copyright exclusive rights except exclusive distribution.
==============================================================================
DC ASCII Dump prints the text seen on the screen to either a printer or a file
while in either TOS or GEM mode.
In TOS mode, it's "almost instaneous" at figuring out the viewable text.
In GEM mode, it's "a little rough but usable." The algorithm would need
a lot of polishing and then too much computation time to do a true
representation- but hey... If you are interested in a 100% perfect text
dump of a GEM screen, you better let us know.
==============================================================================
=========================
Configuring DC ASCII Dump
=========================
DC ASCII Dump has two things to configure:
a) Where to save screen dumps when dumping to file
b) How to dump the screen - file or printer
>To configure where DC ASCII Dump saves files:
----------------------------------------------
1) Run DCADUMPF.PRG. An alert box will appear.
2) Click on the CONFIG button. The file selector will appear.
3) Choose the directory to dump files to. If you click on OK, the directory
is saved back to the program. If you click on Cancel, the info is NOT
saved to the program.
>To configure whether DC ASCII Dump dumps to file or the printer:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
1) Rename DCADUMPF.PRG to DCADUMP?.PRG
where ? is:
F to output to file - the file will be saved to the directory you
configured above, using the name: ASC_DUMP.x, where x is A-Z
P to output to printer
========================

===================
Using DC ASCII Dump
===================
>To activate DC ASCII Dump:
---------------------------
*) Press <CONTROL>+<ALTERNATE>+<HELP> if you are in a TOS program or 'SHOWing'
text.
*) Press <CONTROL>+<ALTERNATE>+<RIGHT SHIFT>+<HELP> if you are in a GEM
program or at the desktop.
NOTE: To switch the output from the printer to a file for that dump, or
vice-versa, simply press the <LEFT SHIFT> with the above key combinations.
=========================
DC ASCII Dump Limitations
=========================
DC ASCII Dump will dump all text prefectly from a TOS program/screen.
DC ASCII Dump may have problems recognizing characters in a GEM program,
especially text in buttons or centered dialog boxes. This has to do with
the way DC ASCII Dump parses the screen (if it didn't, you could be waiting
a _very_ long time for the dump).
