This program calculates capacitor life for electrolytic capacitors.
The program will only calculate once - to use it effectively you
should register the program. To do so, send $10 to Craig Eddy (address
below). You need a copy of VBRUN200.DLL which I didn't include due to
its large size.
To install, place the caplife.zip file in your Windows directory (or any
directory on the same drive as your windows directory). Run
"pkunzip -d caplife.zip"
The files should then be set up as follows:
caplife.exe
caplife.doc
\windows\system\grid.vbx
\windows\system\graph.vbx
\windows\system\gswdll.dll
\windows\system\gsw.exe
The data entered is described below:
Capacitor Specs:
Endurance Life = hours of life specified by the mfg.
Maximum Voltage = speced voltage of capacitor (in V)
Ripple Current = maximum allowable ripple current speced (in mA)
Maximum Temperature = capacitor's temperature rating (in degree C)
Measured Characteristics:
Max. Voltage Input = maximum measured voltage across cap (in V)
Ripple @ Max. Voltage = ripple current measured when max. voltage applied
(same as above for Minimum (Min.) and Nominal (Nom.) voltages)
When Calculate is pressed, the grid is filled in and graph created. To graph
Minimum Life, click its radio button on BEFORE pressing Calculate.
Print will print the form to the default Windows printer, so be sure the
default printer is set properly before pressing Print.
By registering, you can press calaculate as many times as you want, will be
able to save characteristics for future retrieval & use, be provided with
a help file (albeit a small one) and get the latest version of the program.
To register, send $10 to:
