~~~~~~~Exeter II: The Sequel~~~~~~~~
by Glenn Price
Your performance in the first Tour of Duty
proved your true abilities. Now you have signed up for VF-54, the
highest decorated X-Wing fighter/attack squadron in the Rebel
Alliance. Can you make it?
Installation
You will need QBasic to run the Installation program provided. If you do not
have QBasic, then you will have to use the INSTALL.BAT program manually.
This BAT file will only install the Exeter II TOD. You will want to back-up
your mission files if you have not already done so. To do this, type this
at the DOS prompt:
MD\XWING\BACKUP
COPY \XWING\MISSION\*.XWI \XWING\BACKUP\*.XWI
COPY \XWING\MISSION\*.BRF \XWING\BACKUP\*.BRF
This will copy all mission files (including the maze and historic ones) to
a new subdirectory of your main X-Wing directory. After this is done, you
will want to install this TOD. To do this, type this in your Exeter II
directory:
INSTALL [the drive & directory of Exeter II] [the drive & directory of X-Wing]
For example, if you had all of the Exeter II files in a directory on your
hard drive called "EXETER2", and you had X-Wing in a directory called
"XWING", then your would enter the following:
INSTALL C:\EXETER2 C:\XWING
This TOD is now installed and is ready to go.
To remove the TOD from your TOD II slot and put in the original, you can use
the Installation program to do this. If you don't have QBasic, then here
is the procedure:
COPY C:\XWING\BACKUP\*.XWI C:\XWING\MISSION\*.XWI
COPY C:\XWING\BACKUP\*.BRF C:\XWING\MISSION\*.BRF
Note: This will replace TOD I, II, and III with the original.
The above commands assume that the original mission files were backed up
in a subdirectory of XWing called "BACKUP".
I hope that you enjoy playing this TOD! It took a while for me to compose
the missions, and debug them. Any comments or suggestions can be sent to
Thanks for trying Exeter II!
