WESTERN AND CENTRAL OREGON SCENERY FILES
Created by: Noel Blake CompuServe 72700,2302
Requires--: Flight Simulator 4/ASD; uses default scenery
Add some relief to your fantasy flying! Enjoy the
California scenery which you are missing in those annoying
featureless expanses of the beautiful state of Oregon.
I am not a "real" pilot, but I enjoy flying the virtual
aircraft of the amazing Microsoft Flight Simulator (r). I
enjoy even more creating landscapes with the Scenery
Designer. I have used these tools to create mountains,
rivers and lakes, supplemental airports, and urban features.
I have included details of the amazing Pacific coast, the Columbia
River, the Willamette and Rogue river valleys, the Cascades,
and the plains and rivers of Central Oregon.
The following scenery files and directories are included:
ORSOWEST.SC1 ORSWDIR.DOC Oregon Coast from Florence
south, Roseburg and the Rogue
River Valley. Check out
Coos Bay, Medford, and the
southern Cascades, including
Crater Lake.
ORNOWEST.SC1 ORNWDIR.DOC The north coast of Oregon from
Cape Perpetua to the mouth of the
Columbia, the Willamette valley and
metropolitan Portland. Don't miss
the scenery along the coast, especially
around Tillamook and Astoria.
ORCENTRL.SC1 ORCENDIR.DOC All of the Cascades and the Deschutes
River. Scenic highlights include
the Columbia River gorge, Upper
Klamath Lake and Klamath Falls.
The features I have added are quite close to their actual
positions and headings. The runways should all be within
5 degrees of their actual headings, and just about all
airports have taxiways and some buildings reasonably close
to the real thing. I have also added a number of real-world
VOR's which are close enough to their actual locations.
It should be noted that there are seams inherent in the
co-ordinate system of the Flight Simulator. You will notice
that while both Salem and Eugene are located in the correct
latitude and longitude locations, the heading from one to the
other is off by approximately 15 degrees.
I hope you enjoy these files. If you have any comments,
criticisms, or suggestions, please leave me a message in the
Compuserve Flight Simulation forum.
