VGA display with minimum 256k on board RAM.
Microsoft or 100% compatible mouse.
A lot of time, patience and coffee.
INSTALLATION:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Make a new sub-directory called \MAYHEM and then copy all the
MM*.* files into this sub-directory.
To play the game, you need to be in the sub-directory you just
created, as Marble Mayhem needs to locate it's data files in the
current logged directory.
INSTRUCTIONS:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Manoeuvre the red marble carefully and use it push all the
other marbles onto a storage space before rolling on to the
next room. Simple really ... NOT !
CONTROLS:
~~~~~~~~~
If the file 'MM.SET' cannot be found, the default control keys
are Cursor Up / Down / Left / Right. If the file MM.SET exists,
the default keys are loaded from this file.
BUTTONS:
~~~~~~~~
'Marble Mayhem' - Press this button to register.
'Undo' - Undo your last move (you WILL need this) !
'Setup' - Customize Marble Mayhem. (MM.SET created here).
'Keyboard' - Change the keys that control the marble.
'Warehouse I' - Press this button to play in Warehouse No. 1.
'Warehouse II' - Warehouse No. 2 is available after registering.

REQUIRED FILES FOR MARBLE MAYHEM:

MM .EXE - Marble Mayhem's executable.
MM .DOC - Marble Mayhem's help text file.
MM-ORDER.DOC - Marble Mayhem's order form text file.
MM-DATA .00x - Marble Mayhem's data files. (x= 0..3).
MM .ICO - Marble Mayhem's icon for Windows users.
OPTIONAL FILES FOR MARBLE MAYHEM:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MM-x .SAV - Marble Mayhem's saved games. (x= A..Z).
MM .SET - Marble Mayhem's customized settings.
FILE_ID .DIZ - Info file for Bulletin Boards etc...
HINTS:
~~~~~~
If you think you have VGA capability AND a mouse and the
program returns an error message saying that it thinks you
don't, you may force execution of the program (ie. slap it's
wrists) by typing 'MM /O' (override) at the DOS prompt, but
the results of this are unknown and YOUR SYSTEM MAY CRASH !
There are 26 filename possibilities under which to save your
game. The filenames range from MM-A.SAV to MM-Z.SAV. If you
are like me, you might get mixed up sometimes where you last
saved your game, so to find it quickly, type 'DIR' at the DOS
prompt and find the latest DATE and TIME stamp of your MM-*.SAV
files.
COPIES:
~~~~~~~
You may make as many copies as you require for other people as
long as the 'MM*.*' files mentioned above are not modified in
any way and are transferred together as one complete package.
EVALUATION PERIOD:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You may play the shareware version of Marble Mayhem for a 30 day
trial period. If you would like to continue to play Marble Mayhem
and/or play in Warehouse 2, after the 30 day trial period, you are
required to register this game.
HOW TO REGISTER:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- To register, print out the form in the file MM-ORDER.DOC, fill it
in, and post it to me, or press the Marble Mayhem button during
the game.
- If you have not got a printer, you will have to write it out, but
please do not forget to mention your disk size !
WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU REGISTER:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- The latest registered version of Marble Mayhem, including ...
1) Removal of the initial 'press SPACE to continue' message.
2) Removal of the startup/ending screens begging for registration.
3) Warehouse 2. Forty-two more screens for you to crack (if you can).
4) Knowledge that your registration fee is put to use in these two
ways and not, for example, drugs, terrorism or other such nasties:
a) To be added to my baby daughter's bank account, for use when
she grows up for weddings/ 18th birthday pressies etc.
b) To be added to my "Buy Woody a new PC for god's sake" fund,
so I am able to continue to create quality low-cost software
for kind people like yourself. I've only got a 286/8mhz, so
if that's not a sad charity case I don't know what is !
╔════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗
║ HURRY, if you're on of the first 500 to register, you will get ║
║ complimentary registered copies of : ║
║ ║
║ WOODFRUIT, the fruit machine simulator, with a reel design kit. ║
║ BANDEES, the GUI Rock, Scissors, Paper executive descision maker. ║
╚════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝
PS. Sorry about the stubble on the 'Quit' screen, but I was working so
hard, very late, without much sleep on this program ... ahhh! ...
(so that's another reason why you should R E G I S T E R ! ! !).
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The room layouts in this program were taken from WINSOKO, by Frank
Gadegast (thanks for your help Frank), which, in turn were taken
from SOKOBAN by Pandion Software and XSOKOBAN by Joseph L. Traub,
which, in turn were taken from the UNIX version of SOKOBAN written
by H. Bernau, which in turn were taken from ..... ??? (The bowels
of the earth ?) !
RAVE REVIEWS:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pop Larkin : Luverly Jubbly.
SCSI-TREMORS : Awesome!, but I still can't crack #14 :(
Mr. Bowen : Super!, Smashing!, Great!
Henry Ford : It's OK, but it's not black!
PROGRAM ERRORS:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If your mouse / driver is not 100% compatible with Microsoft's,
it may not work, even if it passes the initial checks. If this
is the case, and your mouse cursor does not appear / move, you
may press Escape on the opening screen to quit the program.
If you find any program errors in Marble Mayhem, please send me
a postcard with details on MM's version number, what you were
doing, the level you were on etc. and a brief summary of your
PC specification.
