Issue 4, released 1993.
Greetings one and all, especially those reading this. This is
SHADOWBUZZ, an electronic magazine for cybergenere games, and for the
Shadowrun RPG most especially. This publication plans to include
background information about the cyberpunk world for GMs and PCs to use
to enrich their gaming experience, new little tactics and toys for you,
mechanics help for Shadowrun players, and basically give you some
enjoyable reading. Perhaps this will even become a reference source
for you in your games.
Regardless, this is it. I do hope for a lot of feedback from the
the readers who get this. If you read this, and like it; please drop me
an electronic line, or use plain old mail; it'll still get to me, or
call voice. If you have item(s) that you wish to send me for possible
inclusion in a later issue of Shadowbuzz, go right ahead and send it in
to me; no promises or payment that I can make, but if I use something
that you send me, you get noted to the full extent that I can note and
that you wish (your address and all if you send it; or only what you
specify to me that you want put out into electronic publication).
I reserve the right to edit submissions for length, spelling,
grammar and readability; and to add to any submissions with text of my
own. Now that the disclaimers are out of the way, I am urging everyone
who games any cyberpunk genere, or has thoughts on the matter, to
please contact me. If you have articles or even an article idea, toss
them/it over here. The worst that can happen is that it might not be
interesting enough for me to put it in; the best that can happen is
that you can become part of something great that aims to help gamers
everywhere get more out of their gaming.
Shadowrun and Matrix are copyrights of FASA, they are used here
without intent to defraud or profit; this is a not-for-profit fan
publication that is generated solely for the enjoyment of Shadowrunners
everywhere. I highly recommend Shadowrun and all of it's rich
background novels and sourcebooks to any gamer; they are well worth the
application of funds and small investment of time required to learn.
Shadowbuzz is a copyright of David E Rogers, also known as the
Nightstalker, and is owned by him. No other publication or distribution
of this text is allowed except for passing among friends or uploading to
a not-for profit BBS or shareware file distribution service that charges
for disk and postage costs only. Nothing in this text may be altered,
edited or appended to in any way when doing so.
In other words, you can upload this to all your favorite BBSs, pass
it to your friends and anything else; so long as you or the person
getting it doesn't profit in a money sense from it, and that it is still
in it's original form; unaltered. Please, let my work stand or fall on
it's own merit; I'll be perfectly happy to take the nose-dive if this
sucks, but the same goes for the ballistic climb if it's great.
To contact me, there are a number of options. I'm on a number of
local Atlanta BBSs as either David Rogers or Nightstalker; drop some
messages around town and see if I turn up. Mail sent to Internet
labpt@unix.cc.emory.edu will make it's way to me with all due haste. US
Postal service mail sent to my address below will also see my hands, and
calling my phone number below will possibly get you a voice to voice
conversation with me if you feel so inclined.
To mail to me, send to: David Rogers
1150 Ranking Street, J-2
Stone Mountain, GA 30083
(404) 413-8061
I invite criticism of all kinds, so please drop me a line in some
manner to tell me what you think of this, and to submit items for
inclusion in later issues of SHADOWBUZZ; they should be coming every 3
to 4 weeks, sooner if I have enough material to release.
The contents of this .ZIP should be as follows:
CONTENTS.TXT 6008
EDITORS.TXT 8952
MINES.TXT 20333
SR_GMING.TXT 19464
SR_SOCIO.TXT 16794
TECH4.TXT 6826
CONTENTS.TXT is this file, your list to see if you have the
entire issue; and an attempt to let you know if it's been altered since
it left my system. EDITORS.TXT is my personal space for ramblings of my
own desire, this time something dark and forboding. MINES.TXT is yet
another lengthy technical article about some serious firepower.
SR_GMING.TXT is a treatise on how to game master both Shadowrun and
cyberpunk games in general. SR_SOCIO.TXT is an article that I pulled
off of Internet's rec.games.frp.cyber newsgroup about sociology in
Shadowrun. TECH4.TXT is my nearly regular feature on new cybernetics
and other technical goodies in the world of Shadowrun.
Again, Mason Jenkins assisted me in creative crunching, and
smoothing out the rough edges, for this issue. MINES.TXT was prompted
out of Mason's request, and he helped me pull it together in coherent
and workable form. Contact Mason at 4303 Highway 124, Lithona, Georgia,
30058.
Remember, I am taking submissions for this publication. Entire
articles, or just an idea or two that you'd like someone do the drudge
work on and turn into a fully fleshed out result. You can receive as
little or as much credit as you like, but I will be more than happy to
fully credit all who assist my creative process(es).
ENJOY!
Later,
Nightstalker
