Garlic will ripen and break imposthumes
or other swellings. Onions are equally
effectual for all these diseases. But
garlic has some peculiar virtues. It has a
special quality to dismiss inconveniences,
coming by corrupt aques (malaria) or
mineral vapors; by drinking corrupt or
stinking waters; or by taking Wolf'sbane,
Henbane, Hemlock or other poisonous and
dangerous herbs. Garlic is also good in
hydropic diseases, jaundice, falling-
sickness, cramps, convulsions, piles or
other cold diseases.

However, its heat is vehement; and in
choleric (angry) men, it will add fuel to
the fire . . . In men oppressed by
melancholy, it will accentuate the
humour. Therefore, let it be taken
inwardly with great moderation;
outwardly you may make more bold use of
it.
This is what they believed in 1649 and
much is substantiated in todays latest
research. Even with todays technology,
they still have to find all the benefits
of our magic herb.
