In both animal and human
studies, components of garlic have
been shown to lower cholesterol and
triglyceride levels. Garlic has
also been shown to change blood
lipoproteins (higher ratio of high
density lipoproteins (HDL) to low
density lipoproteins (LDL)) to
affect coagulation parameters, and
inhibit platelet accumulation.

increased incidence of premature
ischemic heart disease. Ischemic
heart disease is the major killer
among all heart diseases. There
has been much in the media about

from heart attacks. In animal
experiments it has been suggested
that the HDL increases with garlic
feedings due to the removal of
cholesterol from arterial tissue.
