File operations

The File Operations Settings page contains controls used to define the behavior of Just Manager's file operations.  The following controls are defined:

Use shell

The [ ] Use Shell checkbox controls the interface used to perform all file operations.  When this control is checked then the Window's Shell is used to perform the file operations.  When the control is unchecked the standard Window's API functions are called.

The default value for this setting is "checked".

Parallel file operations

The [ ] Parallel file operations checkbox controls whether Just Manager will take advantage of multi-threaded technology when performing file operations.  When checked multiple file operations can be executed simultaneously.

The default value for this setting is "unchecked".

Display copy confirmation

The [ ] Display Copy Confirmation checkbox is used to control whether Just Manager will prompt the user before executing a copy operation.  When checked the program will ask for a confirmation before proceeding with the operation.

If the control is not checked then confirmations are only requested for overwrite operations.

The confirmation is requested for Drag And Drop and the Copy Command.

The default value for this setting is "checked".

Display move confirmation

The [ ] Display Move Confirmation checkbox is used to control whether Just Manager will prompt the user before executing a move operation.  When checked the program will ask for a confirmation before proceeding with the operation.

If the control is not checked then confirmations are only requested for overwrite operations.

The confirmation is requested for Drag And Drop and the Move Command.

The default value for this setting is "checked".

Display delete confirmation

The [ ] Display Delete Confirmation checkbox is used to control whether Just Manager will prompt the user before executing a delete operation.  When checked the program will ask for a confirmation before proceeding with the operation.

If the control is not checked then confirmations are not requested.

The confirmation is requested for the commands Delete From Disk and Delete To Recycle Bin.

The default value for this setting is "checked".

Show file operations toolbar

The [ ] Show File Operations Toolbar checkbox controls whether the File Operations Toolbar is displayed or not.  When checked and the Use Shell setting is not checked (using internal Just Manager file operation functions) the toolbar will be displayed during file operations (copy, move, and rename).  Each entry on the toolbar is a progress bar showing the progress for individual file operations.  When unchecked the toolbar is not displayed.

The File Operations Toolbar supports a context menu for each item on the toolbar.  You can perform any of the following operations:

Pause

The Pause command will pause the file operation for the specified file operation item.  This can also be executed by left clicking on the toolbar item (toggles the pause state).

Resume

The Resume command will resume the file operation for the specified file operation item.  This can also be executed by left clicking on the toolbar item (toggles the pause state).

Restore

The Restore command will open the dialog window for the specified file operation item.  The Item will be removed from the toolbar.  From the file operation dialog, pressing the Minimize button will close the dialog and return the item to the toolbar.

The Pause and restore functions are also available from the file operations dialog.

Note that when a file operation is paused that it will be displayed in a different color on the File Operations toolbar.

The default setting for this setting is "unchecked".

Select file extension when renaming

The [ ] Select File Extension When Renaming checkbox controls how the file name and extension are selected when renaming files (either using the File Rename command or by left clicking on a file entry in one of the file panels).

When this control is checked then the file name and extension will both be completely selected when renaming files.  If the control is unchecked then only the file name will be selected (although the extension can still be renamed using the cursor keys).

The default value for this setting is "unchecked".

Open new file in editor

The [ ] Open New File In Editor checkbox controls what Just Manager does when executing the Create File command.  When checked Just Manager will open the file in the associated editor, see the View/Edit section for setting the associated editor for each file type, immediately after the empty file is created.  When unchecked then Just Manager will simply create the empty file an then take no further action.

The default value for this setting is "checked".
