opportunity of looking into the matters raised in your
letter of 26th September. You have met the new manager
Stacey Stump and he will be contacting you again and will
handle the day-to-day issues." Then at the bottom of the
page: "I am informed by Stacey Stump that environment/index.html">litter patrols
are being undertaken every 15 minutes and there is little
further that we can reasonably do in controlling environment/index.html">litter
thrown by a few inconsiderate customers. It was very
evident during my visit that, although there was no
McDonald's environment/index.html">litter in the area, there was a considerable
       amount from other sources."

I have already ask you and you have told us about the
extent to which McDonald's picks up other people's
rubbish. What I would ask you about this is two things.
Did you meet Dr. Taylor at about this time, do you think?
       A. Yes, I did.

  Q. What sort of a relationship did you forge or manage to
       forge with Dr. Taylor?
       A. It was a very good relationship. We could openly speak
about any matter that he had a grievance about, and I could
try to come up with solutions. I also informed him that
I have an open line to the restaurant and if he or any
other resident wanted to complain or they wanted to contact
me about any of those matters, then they were free to do so
       at any time.

  Q. So far as Dr. Taylor and his association, the Royal
Hospital Ward Residents Association, are concerned, how has
that turned out in practice as at 11th January 1995?
       A. The relationship seems to be fine. There is a range of
issues that are brought up and any issues that are brought
up have been out of my control; it has been an issue that
is not related to the operation of the restaurant.

  Q. So far as you are concerned, your perception only, do you
think you have succeeded in alaying Dr. Taylor and his
associations and concerns about environment/index.html">litter as far as you can or
       not?
       A. I believe so, yes.

  Q. Did you see or did Mr. Cobden come and see you at about
this time in relation to the environment/index.html">litter question, do you
       remember?
       A. Yes, he came with four other people from the Head
       Office.

  Q. Four other people?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Of what sort of status?
       A. They were from different departments. There was
somebody from the equipment department and somebody from
the construction department. I am not sure what the other
person did, but it was matters relating to equipment and
       construction.

  Q. We need not be mealy mouthed about it; that was because
there was also a concern about the emission of smells from
