Day 072 - 12 Jan 95 - Page 21

  Q. 10 minutes? Do people go out on their own picking up the
environment/index.html">litter or do they go out in twos and threes or what?
       A. On their own.

  Q. The 10 minutes that you said it takes, was that based on
when you walked around -- I think you said yesterday that
you walked around to see how long it would take to do?
       A. Yes, that was the longer trash walk that I timed. I
have been out on shorter trash walks but I have not set a
stopwatch to it. I have not timed it.

  Q. When you went out were you just walking around looking or
       were you participating?
       A. On the shorter one or the longer one?

  Q. Yes, on the shorter one.
       A. Yes, I would help out and I would pick up rubbish.

  Q. But there was someone with you then?
       A. No, I was by myself.

  Q. You were on your own. What happens when the store gets
very busy, do people still go out on the trash walks?
       A. Yes, I mean -- do you mean when we get busy and we know
we are going to get busy, when the busy periods are, so,
obviously, there is enough crew for those busy periods.

  Q. Are there any circumstances when, say, if you had an
unexpected busy period that might not happen?
       A. No, because an unexpected busy period would not
generally last more than half an hour. In our restaurant
our projections are quite accurate and we do not have any
       problems with unexpected business.

  Q. In summer the people who do the environment/index.html">litter patrols do they go
       out in uniform?
       A. Yes, they would wear the uniform but, as I said
before, if they want to wear a jacket, I have not prevented
them wearing their own jackets, but in summer they
generally, if it was a nice day, they would just wear the
uniform. They would not wear an overcoat.

  Q. They would be clearly identifiable as from McDonald's?
       A. If you have been to McDonald's and you would recognise
       the uniform, yes.

  Q. In the winter -- you said the coats were waterproof, did
       you?
       A. Yes, they are.

  Q. Are they fairly thick or what? Would they be warm?
       A. Well, that would be down to personal opinion. I would
say they were protective, yes. I find them warm when
       I have tried them on.

  Q. How many coats are there available in the store?
       A. We have two at the moment.

  Q. You have two. How frequently are they cleaned?
       A. There is no exact time period. I would say they are
