Q. So was the rubbish then wheeled in cages around to the
front?
A. Yes.

Q. Was there ever a time when the rubbish remained in its bags
on the street in Kings Road?
A. No, because we were, in any restaurant where I have
worked, there have never been a rubbish which was kept
outside because we understand not only the hiding side of
it but also the relationship with the community you live
in.

Q. How big are the bags full of the compacted rubbish at the
end of a day's business, how big are the bags?
A. How big are the bags?

Q. Yes.
A. They are about .....

Q. What colour are they?
A. Black bags -- maybe I think two foot or one and a half
feet.

Q. As manager of the Kings Road store, what, if any, checks
did you personally ever carry out to see whether or not the
trash walks were effective so far as the local streets are
concerned?
A. Sir, I used to do all the time but specially I used to,
when I used to come to work which was before 7 o'clock,
I used to go around in my car and pick up because by that
time the cleaner had been in, so he should have done the
first round by then. So, I used to go around in my car,
follow the route and sometimes drift over, just to see if
there is any problem area or if there were some pockets
where people could have stopped and done it. And later on
when I used to finish, I used to again go around the same
route and all the time I used to take that rubbish home,
and if there was any which I found and just drop it in my
bag.

Q. Did you keep a plastic bag in your car then?
A. Yes, sir, all the time.

Q. Did there come a time towards the end of 1992, I think it
was, when you made an application to extend your opening as
a night cafe from 11.00 till midnight?
A. Yes, sir, I did.

Q. Was that application made to the Royal Borough of
Kensington and Chelsea?
A. Yes, sir.

Q. Did that application succeed?
A. No, it did not.

Q. So was the result that for the last hour of the day you
remained take-away only?
A. Yes, sir.
