night, a manager will accompany a crew member. But if they
are older people, then there was no need to do them.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Why did you change the last walk to between
11.00 and 12.00 rather than after 12.00 when the -----
A. When we went for Council meeting, they asked me what
time did I do the trash walk. I said: "11 o'clock and
after 11 o'clock we used to go for 12 o'clock because it
was take-away only". And the reason we asked for this late
night cafe licence was -----

Q. I know about that but why change it? Why miss out the one
at 12.00 or just after, after talking to the Council?
A. Between 11.00 and 11.30? Why we jump from 11.00 to
12 o'clock?

Q. What I understood you to say was that the last trash walk
was at midnight?
A. Yes, sir, after it closed.

Q. After you closed. Then you had a meeting, you called it,
with the Council and you made the last trash walk between
11.00 and 12.00?
A. No, no. We added on.

Q. You added one on.
A. Sorry, we added on.

MR. RAMPTON: I am grateful for that. (To the witness): So you
added an additional one?
A. Additional one between 11.00 and 12 o'clock.

Q. Before midnight?
A. That is correct.

Q. Before closing?
A. Yes.

Q. I think at the end of 1991 you issued an invitation to the
residents of Smith Street and Woodfall Street to come to a
special candle lit dinner; do you remember that?
A. Yes, I did.

Q. What was the reason for that?
A. It was, basically, to have a good rapport with the
local residents, and I wanted to invite them in to see
whether there was any problem which was created, whether it
was to do with environment/index.html">litter or smell, or anything which, or if it
was related to noise or delivery time, or anything like
that, and there were a couple of issues which were raised
so we tackled them accordingly.

Q. In your judgment, was that dinner a success?
A. It certainly was because it was not only that
Miss Linda Wells was there; there were Dr. Taylor, he was
there, and it was so successful that we could not make
everybody sit downstairs. I know we were packed and we
were looking for chairs at that time.

Q. You see, what I am concerned about is this, Mr. Siddique:
