Day 134 - 13 Jun 95 - Page 03
Q. November 1992?
A. Yes. It could have been perhaps a month before, but it
is around that time.

Q. I have not actually brought my transcript of yesterday up.
There were other matters, but would you like to ask about
those?

MS. STEEL: Yes. (To the witness): The figures that are in the
charts on the preceding pages, what year were they from?
A. They are from the same period of time, around November
1992.

Q. I think that was it on that for the moment.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, I am trying to be helpful. There was one
other question Ms. Steel asked which was where the
information came from on which those tables in G2 were
based. Ms. Mead can answer that too.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That is quite right.

MS. STEEL: Thank you.

THE WITNESS: They are taken from a survey in which we
participated, similar to the one at the end of this
section, the Catering Review one, by a company called PE
International which included those other retailers which
are listed. We have -- I have brought here a copy of the
original from which it was lifted which again has only just
arrived this morning, but that is the document from which
we took our information.

MR. MORRIS: Is it OK for us to look at this over lunch or some
convenient time?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What I suggest is by all means look at it
during the mid-day adjournment. I do not know how long you
think you are likely to take with cross-examination of
Ms. Mead. Do not prolong your cross-examination because
you are anxious to reach a natural break where you can look
at it because I will give you an opportunity to look at it
anyway. But, by the same token, if I might suggest, do not
feel that you necessarily have to put something to Ms. Mead
because, if you were sitting down in September and having
another look at that and some point cropped up to you,
I would not stop you and I very much doubt Mr. Rampton
would object just drawing my attention to it as a matter of
comment. So do not be concerned you are missing
something. There we are.

I will not repeat the comments I made yesterday about being
able to use the figures which Ms. Mead has given you anyway
in these documents.

MR. MORRIS: Yes. (To the witness): There was a question about
you did not have a copy of New Earnings Survey?
A. No, not with me but we have found it at our office and
again it has been brought.
