Day 156 - 17 Jul 95 - Page 17
Mr. Magee says in his statement, all the crew members that
he approached had insisted that management were not to know
about this attempt to join a union, you would not have got
to hear about it, would you?
A. No -- who knows? I do not know.

Q. If they ensured that certain members of the crew who,
perhaps, were more friendly with management did not get to
hear about this attempt to join a union?
A. I cannot answer that.

MS. STEEL: No further questions.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do you have any further questions?

MR. MORRIS: No.

MR. RAMPTON: I have no re-examination.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Thank you. Thank you, Mr. Giardina.

(The witness withdrew)

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, may I make a tentative enquiry about the
programme for the rest of this week? Obviously,
I understand your Lordship is not going to sit for the rest
of the day. That, I understand. I believe I know what is
to be dealt with tomorrow but I am not absolutely certain.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Let us just have a look. Let us just see
what we have. There is what I will call amendments 1 to 5.

MR. RAMPTON: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: There is the question of the transcripts.
Are you ready to go on any amendment relating to pesticide
or hormone residues?

MR. MORRIS: I am hoping to have time to draft that up tonight,
yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I will put a query after that.

MR. MORRIS: I am also hoping to have time to do the hygiene,
food hygiene, violations and the child labour violations in
the United States.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Any application you make in respect of the
nutrition issue, is that something you are hoping to deal
with?

MR. MORRIS: Again, yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Any loose ends on the ruling which I gave on
Thursday, I think it was, including time for -----

MR. RAMPTON: Yes. Your Lordship will get an update from me on
that.
