Day 183 - 03 Nov 95 - Page 08
cannot remember, leave it there.

MS. STEEL: Did you ever start work before 7.00 in the morning?
A. No, I did not -- never.

Q. When you were working past 10.00 p.m. were you aware of how
the hours and pay would be worked out from that?
A. I had to clock off and just said that he would put it
on the bonus. I never actually checked my wage slips, and
not until I have seen them now there actually is not a
bonus on there, and I was assured that it would be. I
never checked my wage slips.

Q. We do not actually have all your wage slips. Do you know
what happened? Do you know where the rest of them are,
whether you have them or not?
A. No, I wonder if the solicitor had them; I am not
absolutely sure now. I was actually just desperate to get
this episode out of my life really.

Q. Right.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I do not think you need enquire in any
further detail. What I understand you to say is if you
were working on after 10.00 p.m. you clocked off at 10.00
p.m.?
A. I did, yes.

Q. But you were paid for the hours you actually worked?
A. As far as I know, yes. To be honest, I did not really
check my wage slips -- I should have.

Q. As far as you were aware, you were paid for the hours you
worked after 10.00 p.m.
A. Yes, I did trust them, so .....

Q. Just pause a moment.

MS. STEEL: You said that the Manager said that he put it down
as a bonus?
A. Yes.

Q. Do you remember which Manager that was?
A. Chris O'Brian.

Q. Was he the Store Manager?
A. Store Manager, yes.

Q. Right. I was going to ask about the double shift. Was
that throughout the whole time you were working there or
was that just part of the time?
A. No, no, round the middle of the time I was there,
because they actually put a clamp down on it. So someone
came to the store, senior -- I cannot remember who it was
-- and came and he stopped all of it. Stopped the double
shift.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What about the after 10.00 p.m., did that
stop or not?
A. That stopped, yes, he must have .....
