Day 185 - 07 Nov 95 - Page 10
going, like, working at both places. Sometimes I was
tired, but other than that I was fine.

Q. Had you talked to Sarah about that?
A. I talked, we -- I believe we were at Kevin's party,
I am not sure, but I told her that I was getting a second
job at Northern and that I had told Cam that, and I told
her that Cam had said that he has known other people who
has had two jobs and it has interfered, but he said that it
was fine, that if I worked the two jobs it would be fine,
so long as it did not interfere with my job at McDonald's
or my job performance at McDonald's.

Q. You were concerned to make sure that it did not interfere
with your performance at McDonald's, so that you did not
let Cam down?
A. Right. Well, I did not want to let any of my bosses
down. I mean, I am going to put a hundred per cent into my
job. It does not matter where I am working. I put a
hundred per cent into Northern and I put a hundred per cent
into McDonald's.

Q. But you talked about this to Sarah, and you talked about
the fact that the reason you had taken the job was because
you were trying to save up to go to university?
A. Yes.

Q. You were actually quite interested in the union at the
start?
A. No. I just -- I went there to learn about it. You
know, if somebody invites me to something, to say, "Hey, do
you want to learn about it", I will say, "Sure." I have an
open mind; I am open to learning new things.

Q. You signed up for the union in the third week of August,
I think you have said?
A. That is what I believe the date was, yes. They had my
card at the Labour Board hearing and they showed me the
date I signed, but I cannot remember it.

Q. Was that the third week of August?
A. I cannot remember.

Q. It was in August?
A. I believe it was in August, yes.

Q. You said that you eventually signed because Sarah had
badgered you a couple of times at meetings and that
Chris Morrison had also asked you to join?
A. No, it was not only at meetings; it was every time we
saw each other. She would ask if I had signed a card and
if I wanted to yet and if I could yet. It was the same
thing with Chris Morrison; every time I saw him, he would
ask me the same thing.

Q. You were finding that annoying, were you? You just wanted
to -----
A. Yes. I just -- I wanted to be left alone. I wanted to
go about, you know, my everyday life and not have to be
bothered with it.
