Day 185 - 07 Nov 95 - Page 22

what she could do to help. So Chris said: "Do you want to
head down to the Labour Board with Sabina on Monday?" and
she said: "Sure". So we went down together, and she is
the one when we went in and they gave us a whole bunch of
books, I was just, like, and they would not accept our
petitions because we needed a covering letter for it, and
I mean, so we went upstairs to the library and we had all
these books, and Bonnie and I went through them trying to
figure out how to format a covering letter and, you know,
what had to be done and stuff like that. So, and then
I brought the books and then we drove back home and, you
know, I gave one set of books to Chris and I kept the
other. I do not have them any more.

  Q. Bonnie actually knew about the attempt at union
organisation on Friday, 1st, did she not?
       A. I believe that was the first time she had heard about
it, but I am not sure. I think it might have been the
       Saturday.

  Q. If you look at page 1566?
       A. Where?

  Q. Page 1566, you want pink volume XIV, sorry, this particular
document starts on page 1554. It is the further statement
of particulars of the intervening employees. Then on page
1566 at 6(ii) it says: "Bonnie McLellan knows of the union
from Sabina Iurilla and Chris Broom on Friday".
       A. I believe that is wrong. I am pretty sure that we told
       her on Saturday morning.

  Q. So you think your solicitors have that wrong then?
       A. I am not sure. I am 90 per cent sure we told her on
Saturday morning, but I may be wrong as well.

  Q. Did you call Chris Broom over to your table or did he just,
you know, walk up? You said he joined you at the table?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Did he just come and sit down and start chatting?
       A. We, well, it was Friday night. We were all heading out
to parties and stuff like that, and me and Michelle were
sitting there and he came in and he saw us sitting there so
he just sat down with us.

  Q. He immediately joined in the conversation?
       A. Well, he asked us: "What is going on with you guys",
you know, "talking about? What are you guys up to
       tonight?" type thing, yes.

  Q. When did you find out what Chris Broom's dad did for a
       living?
       A. I am not sure. I cannot remember. It was -- I am not
sure if he mentioned it that night or if he mentioned it
before that. I cannot remember when exactly he mentioned
it to me. We just thought that he might be able to help us
out and I am not sure if Michelle knew before that or not
       either.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Let us take the five minute break there.
