Day 206 - 22 Jan 96 - Page 42

MR. RAMPTON: There is an argument between your Lordship and
Mrs. Brinley-Codd. Some say H and some say I, Mr. Henden.
Can you try both and see which it is? We are looking for a
       statement by you.
       A. It is 39H.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I thought I had put Mrs. Brinley-Codd's
letters on them. What is "I" then?

  MR. RAMPTON:  Your Lordship did, but she has since changed them;
       that is right.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Never mind. I will keep mine where it is.

MR. RAMPTON: Just have a glance at that, Mr. Henden. Look at
the last page and see if it is signed. It should have a
signature and a date, 20th November 1995, on the last page,
       which is page 8.
       A. That is correct.

  Q. Is that your signature?
       A. That is my signature.

  Q. Did you make that statement for these proceedings, for this
       case?
       A. I did.

  Q. How recently have you looked at it?
       A. I last looked at it last night.

  Q. Last night. Are the contents of that statement true?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Just a few questions, and then I am going to ask you about
Mr. Logan's new allegations, if I may. You are now
       31 years old?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. You joined McDonald's as a trainee Manager at the Regional
       Headquarters?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. In February 1988? You may find it easier if you put the
witness statement on the witness box in front of you.
       A. That is correct.

  Q. Before that, you were a trainee accountant; is that right?
       A. That is correct, yes.

  Q. What was your education? Have you been to university?
       A. Yes. I did the conventional course of 'A' Levels:
I did maths, physics and chemistry; I then went to do a
chemistry degree at Aston University in Birmingham.

  Q. It was after that that you did accountancy?
       A. That is right.

  Q. And then you joined McDonald's as a trainee Manager?
       A. That is correct.
