Day 251 - 17 May 96 - Page 03
professional life, I have been working with Brazil both as
an academic and as a journalist, and the areas that I have
been particularly concerned about have been the Amazon,
particularly social movements and environmental happenings
in the Amazon which, of course, involves what happens in
the rest of Brazil, because you can only understand what
has been going on in the Amazon if you actually take into
consideration the wider social, political and economic
developments in Brazil.

Q. Sorry, I did not ask you, have you got any academic
qualifications?
A. Yes, I did an Honours degree in Bristol University and
then I did a Masters degree at Essex University in Latin

up a position as Correspondent for The Financial Times.

Q. But it should be the very last statement in the bundle.
What is the last statement in the bundle, Miss Branford?
A. There is a photocopy of an article Meet the "UK's
Mr. Big Mac" here, then there is "Confessions of a
Corporate Clown". There is a statement from the University
of California.

MR. MORRIS: That is Susanna Hecks.
A. Susanna Hecks.

MR. MORRIS: It might be before that one.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It should be before that one, if you can find
that?
A. There is something in German.

MR. MORRIS: Maybe if I have a look at it?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Mr. Riley, can you turn it over properly so
that the ...

MS. STEEL: Is 1C not Civil Evidence Act statements?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It may well be but I put them in there and
that is where I thought they were. It does not matter
