Day 270 - 28 Jun 96 - Page 15

while you were present in the group?
       A. I believe this was the first time that I had actually
met you at one of the group meetings. As far as I can
recall, I think I had heard that you had had some family
problems and had not been attending very often, or
something to that effect, you had not been involved very
much in the previous year or something like that.

MR. RAMPTON: Your Honour, that is pure hearsay.

MR. MORRIS: You said there in that first page in the middle
       paragraph, the large paragraph:

"Dave said that he had met him, that is some person, whilst
taking part in an anti borders demonstration in Poland just
prior to the opening of the Berlin wall."

Would that be an accurate --
       A. Sorry, which paragraph are you referring to?

  Q. That is page 20 in the bundle, first page of that day, 19th
July, the central paragraph in the middle of the page, in
the middle of that paragraph. Can you see the paragraph
       that I am --
       A. Yes, I have got it.

  Q. Yes, that would have been something I said, would it?
       A. To the best of my recollection, yes.

  Q. Right. Then at the bottom of the page it says:

"Dave spoke of his tireless dedication to the preparation
and distribution of leaflets regarding the anti-poll tax
       movement."

       Would that be accurate?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Then it says over the page, on page 21 of the bundle:

"Discussion then started about the fayre and it was decided
to go on to that subject next. It appeared that everything
that had been agreed upon in the previous week's meeting
was disagreed with by the members present at this meeting
and lengthy discussions commenced about how the fayre was
       to be presented."

Do you have any comments about that?
       A. Yes, I remember it seemed to be getting nearer to the
time when the fayre was to actually take place and nothing
seemed to be getting organised. I do remember that
occasion. I do not think I had been present at the
previous meeting referred to here, but at this meeting I
recall that there was a lot of discussion about it but
still nothing was actually, no decisions were actually
being made, nothing concrete was actually happening.

  Q. Have you got any comment about the fact that the previous
week's meeting's decisions were disagreed with by the
       members present at this meeting?
