Day 272 - 02 Jul 96 - Page 08
group worked on the basis of trust. I was trusted to get
on with doing anti-McDonald's things and one of them would
have been to speak at the meeting. It was also handy
because I was involved in both groups as well.

Q. Okay. If you look at the leaflets which are attached to
this report, there is a anti-McDonald's Fayre 1989, there
is a "What's Wrong With McDonald's" leaflet which is a
Hackney and Islington Animal Rights campaign one?
A. Yes.

Q. There seems to be another anti-McDonald's Fayre 1989?
A. Yes.

Q. Leaflet.
A. The general Hackney and Islington leaflet.

Q. Was the fact sheet, the fact sheet that we are being sued
over, available at this meeting?
A. To the best of my knowledge, it was not there, no, no.

Q. Right. Okay.
A. You know, I do not -- I would not have taken that
along to the meeting.

Q. Right.
A. You know, by that time, '89, there were not many copies
left. It had not been reprinted for two years, over two
years.

Q. Okay. If we go on to 21st October, this is Mr.
Pocklington's report of the fayre. And on page 15 of the
notes, in the middle paragraph it says:

"The majority of the organisation of the day and certainly
any announcements were made by two people. Firstly and
foremostly by the man now identified as Paul Gravett"?
A. Yes.

Q. Secondly was a man aged in his early twenties".

And then there is a description.

"He was referred to throughout the course of the day as
Charlie."

What is your memory of that? Would that be correct?
A. Yes, that accords with my recollection of the day.
The announcements from the stage were done by myself and
Charlie. I think Charlie probably did it mainly to do with
the music, musical cabaret type things that were going on,
because he organised that side of the fayre. I probably
did most of the others.

Q. Right. Do you know whether or not the fact sheets which is
the subject of the liable action was available at the
London Greenpeace fayre, the anti-McDonald's fayre in this
year, in 1989?
A. 1989? Well, to the best of my knowledge, it was not
available that year at the fayre. You know, I do not
