Day 277 - 10 Jul 96 - Page 13
later note but I might as well ask it now -- the previous
year's anti-McDonald's fayre, if you remember there had
been discussion, or a number of discussions, about whether
it should continue, whether it should change its name?
A. You mean the 1990 one?

Q. Yes, following the 1989 fayre. I mean, for example, at
this meeting there was discussion about the anti-McDonald's
fayre and said it was not to be repeated. Do you remember
me being one of the people arguing against having another
anti-McDonald's fayre?
A. Yes.

Q. And was the idea to have a London Greenpeace fayre a kind
of, like, a midway position between various views that were
being expressed?
A. My recollection of what happened, and I cannot say what
happened on what particular dates, was that there were some
people who were keen to have another anti-McDonald's
fayre. I did not want a fayre at all, because I thought
that people got roped in on the day and it took up too much
energy, and that you were against having another
anti-McDonald's fayre. But Moe made a suggestion about
making it, to have another one the next year, because he
was keen on the fayre, and that that would be the last one
and then, like, encourage other people to do their own
around the country. But that until the end, yes, it was
decided that there would just be a London Greenpeace fayre
covering all the issues rather than, you know, having the
name anti-McDonald's fayre.

I mean, from what I can see, more or less the stalls
-- I mean, there was a bit of difference, but they were
more or less the same because the ones at the
anti-McDonald's fayre, well, there weren't any specifically
about McDonald's anyway, but they were all the issues.

Q. If we go to 1st March, page 89, notes of Roy Pocklington.
This is the one where Mr. Pocklington says that you, Jane,
me and Alan from Catford and himself were present due to
the lack of numbers and the lack of essential -- in quotes
-- "people at the meeting nothing was discussed of any
import". And I -- do you remember me reporting about my
domestic circumstances?
A. I mean, I can't say specifically about that meeting but
I was well aware of your domestic circumstances and it is
the sort of thing that you probably would say, yes.

Q. I think you have dealt with what Mr. Clare had put in his
notes?
A. Yes.

Q. I just cannot remember what page number that is, but?
A. Page 87.

Q. I will not ask you about that. I will not ask you about
that. Before the domestic crisis which I suffered in
August 1989, and you were -- you knew me because of local
activities, the unwaged centre and different campaigns
going on in Tottenham, yes?
