Webster's History : Version 0.13

New features!

  1. Added my own fetcher for HTTP over FreeNet or Acorn's TCP/IP. Should also work with FTP, GOPHER and WAIS links if you know of a proxy. See the FreeWeb Documentation for how to use and configure it. I suggest you use it if you can as it supports decoding of pages as they are received which can speed things up quite a lot.
  2. Improved the HotLists. You can now Sort them and Drag the entries around, even between HotLists.
  3. Using the toolbar icon to turn image loading on and off now also controls loading of background images.
  4. Added the facility to POST to the local machine. The Action value in the Form tag points to the executable (See documentation on Local Posting)
  5. The URL of the current page is now displayed when the pointer is not on a link.
  6. Added ALIGN parameters to <P> and <Hx> tags.
  7. Images are no longer always loaded when they are part of a table, and those in a table are not load twice any more either!
  8. Clicking on the Activity icon on the toolbar when no activity is taking place now opens the Goto URL window.
  9. Added a few more entries to the Questions and Answers pages.
  10. Much simpler Font configuration from the Iconbar Menu. But you can still use the original, detailed configuration if you wish.
  11. The Hotlists can now be moved out of Webster's Directory by defining a variable called Webster$HotLists to point to a directory where they are to be stored. By default they are still stored in Webster's directory.
  12. Now support the <plaintext> tag. Everything after this tag until the end of the file is considered preformatted text.

Bug fixes

  1. Stopped a failure to start a fetcher causing a Shutdown when you try to 'stop' the fetch.
  2. Fixed Implementation of 'External Launch' Protocol.
  3. Can now view Images files using Webster again and you should be able to see all the image, even if it bigger than the window by use of the scroll bars..
  4. Fixed bug in Handling Some attributes to the Forms tag.
  5. Fetched files are now typed correctly.
  6. Fixed the 'Address Exception' errors when clearing a page that had a TextArea as the last item in a form.
  7. Prevented the disappearance of the first line of text when the page contains a table!
  8. Removed the need for end tags (</th>, </td> and </tr>) within tables. Also re-written the table code. Still doesn't fully comply with the Netscape or HTML 3 spec though, as I don't want to implement any more of these until I have simple tables working.
  9. Added Tables to the list of HTML extensions that can be turned on and off using the HTML Extensions section of the Choices windows.
