Why Venezuela? When MontanaÆs winter bears down hard, we think about riding in warm weather on a sunny beach with plenty of time to relax. Venezuela offers what we have been looking for: easy access, tropical climate and an unusual ride between the desert and the sea. This trip offers relaxed riding, comfortable, vehicle-supported camping plus swimming and siestas on Caribbean beaches.

Isla Margarita. Just off the coast of Venezuela, Margarita Island has a split personality. The east end of the island has a considerable resort development complex with all the bells and whistles. The west end of the island is the Macanao Peninsula, an arid, undeveloped region with mountains in the interior and ringed by sandy beaches. Our riding trip will take us around the Macanao Peninsula, visiting small fishing villages and riding deserted beaches. WeÆll camp out with the ocean to lull us to sleep and finish off the trip with two nights at a comfortable local inn.

Logistics. Our local outfitter provides the horses, tack, camping gear and land transportation. The camping gear will travel from camp to camp by vehicle. We will only carry personal items on the horses in our saddlebags: water, camera, sunscreen, etc. . WeÆll have four days of riding and camping, and have two nights in hotel accommodations. All the meal preparation is done by the local staff. WeÆll be using local ranch horses and tack, a combination of Venezuelan saddles and Western saddles.

WhatÆs Included. All meals and accommodations from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast on Day 7. Horses, camping gear, tents, transfers, land transportation and round trip air transportation from Miami.

Trip Cost $1750.00 USD per person. Trip size limited to 8 participants.

Passports and Visas A valid passport is all that is necessary for US citizens.
