Aleksander Tansman, a world-famous POlish composer who died in Paris in 1986, whose compositions dedicated to A. Segovia have been included in the world quitar literature annuals, wrote about Jan Oberbek: "It is a great honour form me to recommend Jan Oberbek, a guitar player with whom I co-operated when interpreting my compositions. He is an unusually sensitive artist with excellent technique and his art is connected with such Spanish artists as Casals, Cassado, Alicia de Larrocha, Andres Segovia and Picasso".
