SAP DB - the Enterprise Open Source Database from SAP - is now available with open sources since two years. This presentation will give a review on response and effects of the Open Source move. It will show examples of the integration of SAP DB into various application areas and solution landscapes. Beside that innovations of SAP DB Version 7.4, that has been released in January 2003, will be shown. This will concentrate on topics like administration, scalability and WebDAV as already implemented ones and a special high availability approach (hot standby) that will be offered within this year.

Jg Hoffmeister is Product Manager for SAP DB, the Enterprise Open Source Database from SAP. He has been working on this database and its predecessors since 1985 first as developer and now as manager for the open source topics as well as for the database integration into the SAP solutions. He has studied computer science at the Technical University of Berlin with focus on Software Technology, Software Engineering and Databases.
