PackCom.com Ver 0.64 is now on PCEVE
Enhancements include:
- Ability to call any program from within PackCom, including DOS.
- Configuration Parms allow for a fixed allocation of memory for
external programs. This defaults to 30K which is enough for
DOS and small programs. This parm can be change to Zero to
conserve memory or can be quite large 450K or so. Any memory
allocated for External Programs will subtract from the total
number of Scroll Back Buffer lines allowed.
- Configuration Parm for the Default External Program has been added.
This parm defaults to COMMAND.COM which will bring up DOS.
The External Programs called within PackCom can be changed
just before execution, this is just a default for frequently
used programs.
- For the External Program to work the environment area within DOS
must contain the statement 'COMSPEC=' followed by the path and
name of the command processor. Nomally it looks like this,
'COMSPEC=[path]COMMAND.COM'. If yours is not set up correctly
then use the 'SET' command in DOS to set it up correctly.
- Expanded the error messages generated during the intialization of
memory buffers for External Programs and for Scroll Back Buffer.
I suggest that you go for a large Scroll Back Buffer size and let
the error messages tell you how big to set the Scroll Back Buffer
size.
- Allows for a special run of PackCom to intialize or reintialize the
configuration parms. This allows you to change the parms without
having to load up a word processor and figure out which parm it is
that you have to change. This special run is accomplished by
executing the command: 'PackCom /I'.
This will be the last Version of PackCom that will run total from memory,
I have run out of space for the code segment. All future release will use
an overlay scheme to allow for more code and enhancements.
Enjoy the mods,
