This installation guide provides the following instructions:
- Using QStart to transfer Windows for Workgroups Ver.3.11
ODI driver files from the Kingston Drivers Diskette to the
destination directory.
- Installing the Windows for Workgroups Ver.3.11 ODI driver.
Procedure:
The OEMSETUP.INF file provided for WFW 3.11 NDIS 3 driver in this
diskette allows user to install one of the drivers supported in
WFW 3.11, NDIS3, NDIS2 or ODI driver. In order to access both
Novell NetWare server and Microsoft Network, it is easier to configure
the WFW 3.11 to use the ODI driver. Novell provides some DOS/Windows
Client software which can access Microsoft network through ODI driver.
These DOS/Windows Client software need to be installed before
configuring the WFW 3.11 to use ODI driver.
I. Run QSTART to extract the WFW311 NDIS3 Driver and DOSODI/VLM
drivers to directory C:\NWCLIENT .
1. Make sure the EtheRx PCI adapter is properly installed in
your computer.
2. Insert the Kingston Drivers diskette 1 into your floppy
drive A:.
3. Type A:QSTART[Enter] to run QStart.
4. Select 'Generic Install', after the adapter test completed
select [Continue].
5. Select "Microsoft Windows for Workgroups ver. 3.11 / ODI Client"
in Driver screen.
6. Change the default destination directory if desired then click
'Copy'.
7. After QStart copied the files to the destination directory,
click 'Exit' to get back to DOS.
II. Install Novell NetWare DOS ODI driver:
We recommend using NetWare DOS/Windows Client Software (It is a package
of 5 diskettes). It contains all required drivers for both DOS and
Windows. Otherwise you need to download the Windows drivers packet
from Novell (WINUP9.EXE).
Note: make sure WFW 3.11 is configured for "No Windows support for
Network" at this point.
- Run Install.exe from DOS/Windows Client Software (diskette 1).
- Select 'Select the driver for your network board' Option.
- Select 'Other Drivers' from the list of available drivers.
- When asked for the driver diskette, enter 'C:\NWCLIENT'.
- All drivers for DOS and Windows will be copied into c:\nwclient and
c:\windows.
- Reboot after finish.
III. Configure WFW 3.11 Network:
- Run Network Setup under Network Group. Click on 'Network' and
select Support for Microsoft Network. Mark Additional Network
Support and select Novell Network (Workstation Shell 4.0 and above).
Click 'Close'.
- Click on Driver and select 'Add Adapter'. Select 'Unlisted or
Updated Network Adapters'. When asked for the diskette, enter the
path (C:\NWCLIENT) to KTC2000.386 and OEMSETUP.INF.
Follow instructions to finish the installation.
NOTE: When ask to overwrite your Netware drivers, select NO.
- Reboot the system.
- Upon entering Windows, you should now be able to see both
Novell NetWare Server and all Microsoft workstations.
