  1. LINE-ART AND IMAGE FILES
  2.  
  3. You can use two types of pictures in 
  4. your document: line-art files 
  5. created with a drawing program like 
  6. GEM Draw, and images created with
  7. a painting program like GEM Paint.
  8.  
  9. All pictures can be resized by 
  10. making the frame larger or smaller, 
  11. but only image files can be scaled, 
  12. cropped and edited.
  13.  
  14. LOADING A PICTURE
  15.  
  16. To load a picture into a document, 
  17. choose Import picture in the File 
  18. menu. When the form appears, select 
  19. the type of picture file you want 
  20. and click on OK. Use the Item 
  21. Selector to select your picture and 
  22. click on OK.

  24. To place the picture into a frame, 
  25. select the frame, then click on the 
  26. name of the picture in the browser.
  27. HIDING THE PICTURES

  29. To turn the pictures off and 
  30. increase the screen drawing speed, 
  31. click on Hide all pictures in the 
  32. Graphics menu. This command is 
  33. marked if the pictures are hidden.

  40. PICTURE STATUS

  42. Select a picture frame then double-
  43. click on the picture name in the 
  44. browser to display information about 
  45. the picture.

  47. DELETING A PICTURE

  49. To remove a picture from your 
  50. document display the Status form for 
  51. the picture and click on [Delete].

  53. SCALING AN IMAGE FILE

  55. To change an image's proportions, 
  56. select its frame and choose Scale 
  57. picture in the Graphics menu.

  59. The form displayed allows you to 
  60. preserve or ignore aspect ratio (the 
  61. height to width ratio of the image), 
  62. and to select whole pixel scaling 
  63. (which improves the quality of the 
  64. printed picture).

  66. CROPPING AN IMAGE FILE

  68. To cut an image to size, select its 
  69. frame and choose Crop picture in the 
  70. Graphics menu. Drag a box inside the 
  71. image with the "scissors" to mark 
  72. the portion to be shown in the 
  73. frame.

  79. EDITING AN IMAGE FILE

  81. To edit an image file, select its 
  82. frame and click on Edit picture in 
  83. the Graphics menu. Add and delete 
  84. pixels in the window using the 
  85. mouse. Click on the close box to 
  86. save the edited image or cancel the 
  87. edit.

  92. RESIZING A FRAME CONTAINING AN IMAGE

  94. When a frame containing an imported 
  95. image is resized, the image is 
  96. rescaled (according to the settings 
  97. on the Scale Picture form) to fit 
  98. the new frame.
