  36. Review of _Tinderbox_ from Sinclair User No.43, October 1985

  38. GREMLIN GRAPHICS is not a company noted for its adventures.
  39. _Tinderbox_ is a fairy tale, in which youplay the part of Tom,
  40. a common foot-soldier, who has to defeat the wicked witch and
  41. evil king to gain the hand of the fair Rowella.  As an adventure,
  42. it's a disgrace. It is written entirely in Basic, and contains
  43. large numbers of boring locations where little or nothing
  44. happens.  The computer does not understand even a simple,
  45. standard adventure command such as Look. As Tom happily wades
  46. through a lake without so much as getting his feet wet, he may
  47. well ponder his bad luck in not signing up as a mercenary with
  48. Pete Austin or Brian Howarth.  The B side of the cassette
  49. contains a long fairy story printed up screen by screen. It is
  50. the story of Tom, the common foot, and you've guessed the rest
  51. already.  All profits go to the Soft-Aid appeal for Ethiopia.
  52. It's very fine of Gremlin Graphics to do that, but they might
  53. have chosen a halfway decent program to flog for charity. If you
  54. care about Ethiopia - and you should - then send a fiver to Bob
  55. Geldof. There's no point bothering with _Tinderbox_ - it lights
  56. nobody's fire.
