TO USE AUTOMATIC "SMART CURSOR" MOVEMENT:
Smart Cursor remembers the last "Primary Direction" set by
any of the 8 cursor direction keys. Smart Cursor always
moves in the Primary Direction after every pattern, color,
or symbol input; and it scrolls the window when it reaches
the end of the warp or weft threads. In the Tieup and
Lift Plan editors, Smart Cursor also tracks a "Push
Direction" and controls the Copy/Shift function (see below).
Smart Cursor action is controlled by the Shift (clutch), Ctrl
(erasure), and Alt (zigzag) keys. (See the space bar input
information below.)
Press ALT S to toggle Smart Cursor ON and OFF or use the
Menu option Tools/Cursor. Smart Cursor status is apparent
from the action of the cursor, from the status line
indicator, from the Tools/Cursor menu option, and from the
indicator in the Block/Show window.
TO INPUT OR ERASE WITH THE SPACE BAR OR MOUSE:
Move the cursor to the position you want to edit and press
the Space Bar or Left Mouse Button. The affect of the
Shift, Ctrl, and Alt keys with Smart Cursor is shown below:

KEYBOARD MAPPING TO INPUT NUMBERS 1 - 32 BY KEYSTROKE:
Harnesses and treadles from 1 to 32 can also be input with a
specific single keystroke. The same keys also select colors
and symbols 1 to 16; however, CAPS LOCK must be on to select
colors, and SCROLL LOCK must be on to select symbols. If
BOTH Caps Lock and Scroll Lock are ON, colors and symbols
are changed together. Keystroke input is also sensitive to
the Smart Cursor Primary Direction, and to the Push
Direction in the tieup and Lift Plan editors.
On the keyboard map below, notice that the function keys 1-
10 input the harnesses/symbols/colors 1-10; and the top row
numeric keys allow single key input of numbers 11-20. The
alpha keys for 21 to 30 fall just below and to the right of
the top row numeric keys used for 11-20, giving an immediate
visual cue to their respective values. Likewise for 31-32.

TO SET SMART CURSOR PUSH DIRECTION IN THE TIEUP AND LIFT PLAN:
In the Tieup and Lift plan editors, Smart Cursor tracks a
secondary "Push Direction" (left or right in tieup; up or
down in lift plan) causing the cursor to be pushed in that
direction when Smart Cursor reaches the end of a treadle
column or lift plan row. Rather then just wrapping around
as usual, Smart Cursor wraps and also jumps one square in
the Push Direction.
The Push Direction is set by every Up or Down Arrow in the
lift plan and every Left or Right Arrow in the tieup editor
(other direction keys reset only the Primary Direction).
Therefore if you backtrack to a previous row or treadle, the
push direction is immediately reset to "backtracking." To
avoid resetting the Push Direction, move Smart Cursor two
positions back and one forward to the one you want; in this
way the push direction is reset twice, and ends up
unchanged.
TO USE SMART CURSOR COPY/SHIFT IN THE TIEUP AND LIFT PLAN:
Smart Cursor controls the copying or shifting of a row in
the lift plan or column in the tieup. This allows very
quick input in some cases. Simply move the cursor from the
source position one square to the destination position and
Press ALT C. If you moved to a different treadle or row,
the previous row or column is copied to the new row.
Otherwise, the current cursor row or column is shifted one
square. In both cases the result is based on the Smart
Cursor Primary Direction just set. The left and right
arrows give a pure copy in the tieup and a shifted row in
the lift plan. Similarly, the Up and Down arrows give a pure
copy in the lift plan and a shifted treadle tieup in the
tieup editor. The diagonals, PgUp, PgDn, Home, and End,
give a shifted copy in both cases. Smart Cursor remains on
the destination after the copy so you can move again at a
different angle before the next copy.
TO USE MARKED BLOCK COPY -- PURE, FLIP, MIRROR, AND ROTATE:
This feature allows the capability to work with up to 10
marked blocks each in both warp and weft window editors
(threading, and treadling or lift plan)--but not tieup.
Block numbers are displayed on the window frame next to the
number line. Beginning and ending positions are shown as
the number of the block 1-9 and 0 for block 10. If two
different block's markers occupy the same position, the
higher block marker is displayed. All forty positions are
automatically saved in the weaving file (2 markers per block
and 10 blocks each for warp and weft). InsertMode controls
whether copied blocks overwrite pattern or insert space
first. "Copying" the block to a "destination" inside the
block results in flipping, mirroring or rotating the marked
block itself (InsertMode must be off).
Block Copy can be controlled either with the menu system or
the "shortcut" keys listed below. EACH of the keys below
has an equivalent Block menu option. See the context
sensitive help for the Block menu for more details.
Shift 1 - Shift 0 (top row number keys ONLY): Create or
Erase a start or ending block marker. If the cursor is on
an existing block marker, Shift 1 to Shift 0 erases it.
If the cursor is not on one of the respective markers, and
both the block's markers exist (the block is MARKED), the
closest marker is moved to the cursor position. If the
cursor is exactly in the middle, the higher marker is moved.
Alt B: Display a status window of blocks 1-10 for both warp
and weft. This is especially useful if several blocks start
or end in the same position. Press the Print Screen key for
a printed record of the blocks.
+ key: Toggle block InsertMode ON/OFF. The status of
InsertMode is shown in the lower left corner of the current
window. The "+" character is displayed for On and the plain
frame if off.
Alt 1 - Alt 0: Copy exactly the respective marked block to
the cursor position. InsertMode inserts the width of the
block before copying; otherwise the block overwrites the
existing pattern. A block cannot overwrite itself, except
for flipping, mirroring, or rotating itself, and Insert Mode
must be off for that. Therefore, in InsertMode, the copy
destination must be outside the source block range (or on
position one). Block Copy DOES alter any other block if the
destination falls within its range.
Ctrl Alt 1 - Ctrl Alt 0: Copy and Mirror (reverse the
order of) the respective block to the cursor position. If
the cursor is within the source block and InsertMode is Off,
the block itself is reversed. (Hold Down both Ctrl and Alt,
then tap the block's numeral key.)
Shift Alt 1 - Shift Alt 0: Copy and Flip the respective
marked block to the cursor position. Block is flipped
vertically in threading; horizontally in treadling/harness
combo windows. If the cursor is within the source block and
InsertMode is Off, the block itself is flipped.
Shift Ctrl Alt 1 - Shift Ctrl Alt 0: Copy and Rotate the
respective marked block to the cursor position. Block is
rotated 180 degrees. This the same as Mirroring and then
Flipping. If the cursor is within the source block and
InsertMode is Off, the block itself is rotated.
