Command: Print/Weaving < PW >
Purpose: Print the Weaving in the selected printer mode
Information:
This is the primary printing function. It creates a printed
pattern draft section using the current Range and Mode
settings.
In Text-Data mode, warp or weft data is shown if it is turned
ON through Options/Data. Print/Text Options determine other
characteristics of the printout; three of the switches are
duplicated under Display/Modes for convenience. The
arrangement of data is controlled by Options/Format.
In graphics modes, weave data is printed as blocks. If
Print/Graphics Options/Zoom is not zero, the current
Print/Horizontal-Vertical magnification factors are used.
Because printer graphics often have unequal horizontal to
vertical ratios, some graphics modes require a different
horizontal and vertical magnification factor to produce
blocks that appear square. See the main Help menu on
Dot Matrix or Laserjet printers for details.
Thread Variable Magnification ON provides an additional
sizing factor applied individually to each warp and weft
thread based on its Symbol number.
Display/Color Weave determines if single or multiple colors
are available. If color printing is ON but Color Weave is
OFF, the printout will be produced in the current Single
Warp and Weft Colors.
Comments:
Print/Range/Weaving is identical to Print/Weaving except
it allows you to set the Range. Subsequently, you can use
Print/Weaving until you want to reset the Range again.

Command: Print/Design < PD >
Purpose: Print the Design in the selected printer mode
Information:
This feature works identically to Print/Weaving except
that Color Mix printing uses a mixed color for the number
lines if they are selected with Options/Data/Number line.
Comments:
Color and graphics modes design printouts were a major
new enhancement for Weave Simulator 4.11.
The Single Weft symbol is used for the background symbol
in B&W and 7-color text mode printing. Mixed Color text
mode printing always uses a space for the background.
The capabilities of Weave Simulator in printing text and
graphics designs are now identical to Patternland Pattern
grapher.
Print/Range/Design is identical to Print/Design except
it allows you to set the Range. Subsequently, you can use
Print/Design until you want to reset the Range again.

Command: Print/Range < PR >
Purpose: Menu--Change ranges and print weaving or design.
Information:
Ranges are NOT the SIZE of a weaving or design--they are
simply a way of identifying a section of weaving or design.
You can also alter ranges through Edit/Range and
Display/Range.
Comments:
A weaving can print continuously all weft rows; however, the
number of warp threads printed is limited by the size of the
paper and the graphics mode selected. Use Print/Range to
select several warp sections to print large weavings.

Display/Range
_______________________________________________________________
Command: Print/Range/Weaving < PRW >
Purpose: Change warp and weft ranges and print weaving.
Information:
Warp and Weft range windows are presented for input before
Print/Weaving is called.
Allowable range is limited by current warp and weft limit.
Comments:
Use Edit/Warp-Weft/Size to change actual weaving size.
Normally, the range will equal the weaving size.

_______________________________________________________________
Command: Print/Range/Design < PRD >
Purpose: Change row and column ranges and print design.
Information:
Design Row and Column Range windows are presented for input
before Print/Design is called.
Comments:
Use Edit/Design/Size to change actual design size.

Command: Print/Setup < PS >
Purpose: Menu--Provide options to control printer status.
Information:
Each time a printer is powered on, it reverts to its built
in, "default," settings. This and an additional menu allow
you to change line feed and other settings and to set up a
"recording" that will do that automatically.
Comments:
Graphics modes printing usually does not require any setup.
Text-Data printing is usually best when using a downloadable
character to print square blocks and the line feed is
reduced to 10 lines per inch.

Command: Print/Color Palette Mixer < PC >
Purpose: Comprehensive color printing palette editor
Information:
Patternland provides two types of color printing under
Print/Modes: 7-Color and Color Mix. The Color Palette
Mixer is where you create the Color Mix for Color Mix
Printing.
If you alter the VGA/EGA video palette, you will probably
want to create a corresponding printer palette.
Printed colors are created from the Yellow, Magenta, Cyan,
Black ribbon. Each band can overstrike in 5 intensities:
0-4 strikes of the ribbon. Five intensities raised to the
power of four ribbon bands yields 625 possible colors.
In practice, only the first 250 or so are usable, since
adding more than one strike of black to other color mixes
produces basically black.
If Color Weave is ON, the Palette Mixer screen shifts to the
Weaving Video Palette before displaying colors 1 to 16; in
this way you can approximate printer colors while viewing
your current video colors.
Comments:
Sample printouts of 250 colors and of the current mix are
also available, along with filing options duplicated from
the File menu.

Command: Print/Modes < PM >
Purpose: Menu--Control printing modes switches
Information:
These switches determine what printer mode is used and what
Patternland printing method is employed.
Text-Data mode is available to all types of printer.
Graphics modes require a supported B&W or color graphics
printer.
Comments:
Text-Data is the only mode that shows numeric warp and weft
data. Graphics modes show the data as blocks only.
See Also: Print/Modes/all options.
_______________________________________________________________
Command: Print/Graphics Options < PG >
Purpose: Menu--Change graphics printing options settings.
Information:
The graphics options settings have no affect on Text-Data
mode prints.
One option, Thread Variable Magnification, affects both
display and printer graphics; the rest affect only print
graphics.
Comments:
Graphics options are saved in the configuation and all other
weaving files.
See Also: Display/Graphics/all options
_______________________________________________________________
Command: Print/Text Options < PT >
Purpose: Menu--Change text options switches.
Information:
The text options settings have no affect on graphics
mode prints.
Three switches--Draw-Down, Warp Multi-Symbol, and Weft
Multi-Symbol--affect text mode displays and are duplicated
under Display/Text Options.
Graphpaper Background requires a graphics printer.
Comments:
Text options are saved in the configuation and all other
weaving files.

Command: Print/Output to: Printer/File < PO >
Purpose: Switch--Control destination of print command.
Information:
Normally, one prints to the printer.
If the destination is set to File, you must provide a
filename each time you print, and a disk file is created
identical to the data stream which would have been sent to
the printer. You can print the resulting ".PTX" file at a
later time without using Patternland.
Printing to a file requires a great deal of disk space for
color graphics especially. A hard disk is desirable.
To print the file later, use the DOS COPY command with the
/B (for binary) switch and copy to the printer:
Copy [filename].PTX /b prn
Comments:
You can usually print .PTX files with the DOS PRINT spooler
also; this allows queing-up 10 files for printing while you
continue to work in Patternland. Print.Com must be on an
available path: Print [filename].PTX. If a graphics file
doesn't print properly, use the Copy /b command described
above.
Another example for this feature is to load a driver for a
printer at a different location, print to a file, and take
the output file to the other location. You don't need a
copy of Patternland on the second computer to print the
file.
PC-Write can include a .PTX print output file using the
.TI:[filename] command to include a graphics file. You may
also need to use the .TT:nnn command to send margin setup
strings to PC-Write. Patternland can set the margin for
you with the Printer Recorder, so the graphic would be
centered on the page, but you must use PC-Write's
.TT: command to reset the margin so the rest of the document
prints correctly. You could alternatively create a
blank weaving with a Printer Recorder margin setup to reset
the printer margin to 0, print it to a .PTX file too,
and include it in PC-Write with a second .TI: command after
the weaving file. A round about way, but it would work. A
quick consultation with your printer's manual could tell you
the ASCII codes necessary to set its margin, as would
reading the LMG option of Patternland's printer driver for
your printer.
