OVERLAP.EXE
Recommended but not required: USADATA.DAT, for an outline map. See below
on graphic printout.
Requires VGA graphics -- 640 x 480 16 color graphics output.
Usage:
Make a list of .SC1 files you want to examine for overlap with any other
file on the list. One per line, ending with a line reading "FINISHED".
The files must have the .SC1 extension (or .SC2, etc.: just so it's a
legitimate ASD scenery file). Other files will work, but you'll get some
real strange results!
For example,
DOMREP.SC1
CUBACNTER.SC1
CUBAEAST.SC1
CUBAWEST.SC1
FINISHED
Maximum of 20 files; they must be on the path where you have OVERLAP.EXE,
unless you give a path, such as c:\fs4\DOMREP.SC1.
Now run OVERLAP. You can supply the name of the list you just created on
the command line: OVERLAP LIST.TXT. Otherwise you will be asked for the name.
You will be asked if you want to keep a disk text file of the results of
OVERLAP (centers, radii, and overlaps). If so, answer y/Y; if not,
simply hit ENTER. If y/Y, you will in turn be asked for the name of the
output file.
In either case you will get a screen printout giving:
1. The names of your input files (no path or extension), with center and
radius.
2. The overlap between any two files, if any.
(In case a file in your list is not available [wrong name or path], you
will get an error message indicating that it is being ignored; the rest of
the files will be input, however.)
There may be a slight discrepancy between these figures for center and
radius and those you get from the ASD editor; different rounding methods.
Graphic Printout:
Finally, you will get a prompt to "Hit 'G' to continue", and the program
will draw circles in different colors for the boundaries, and the name
of the input file in the same color, at the top of the screen (minus
extension). This will be superimposed on the outline map of USADATA.DAT,
originally written for Robert MacKay's RMMFP flight planning program (many
thanks to him here). USADATA.DAT must be on the directory and path from
which OVERLAP is run. It is not provided here: get USADAT.ZIP from the
FSFORUM library 2. If USADATA.DAT is not available, the program will run,
but the map will not be printed.
If the scenery area you are in is off the grid for normal scenery, such as
the WWI flying area in FS, you may not get any graphics, but the centers
and overlap will still be recorded.
Hit "Q" to exit the program.
If you answered y/Y to keeping a disk file, of course it will list the
center and radius for each file, and overlaps if any.
