First, I have the utmost respect for Eric Mooney. His rulesheets are top notch and he hit most of the problems with MPA right on. However, I believe his conclusion is a little harsh.Microsoft should not be held to a higher or lower standard than any other game maker. This was their first attempt at pinball (Space Cadet was done by Maxis) and I think they did a nice job. In the interest of full disclosure, I must state that I am a retro pinball fanatic. I love The Web and Timeshock!, but Royal Flush and Eight Ball Deluxe are still my favorites. Pros: .good variety of tables (something for everyone) .nice job on graphics .good ball physics, especially for a first try .background history included .unique tables .accurate sounds (see exception below) Cons: .no sound of ball rolling on table .no tournament mode for recording high scores .plunger sucks My bottom line - Microsoft did a nice job for the first time out of the box. If you have any interest in real pinball games, it's a must. For $30, it offers lots of playing value. I hope MS continues to work on this will offer more re-makes in the near future.
