Italian Language Studies

Six-week intensive program in Urbino (a picturesque Renaissance city nestled in the beautiful hills of the Marche region), emphasizing language proficiency, culture and civilization, and contemporary Italian literature. Open to students at all levels. Field trips. 6 credit hours.

French Language Studies

Five-week intensive program in Paris, emphasizing language proficiency, culture and civilization, and contemporary French literature. Program open to students with at least two semesters of college-level French or equivalent. Field trips and group activities. 6 credit hours.

Spanish Language Studies

Four-week intensive language and culture studies program in Spain. Spend two weeks in the northern region of Asturias, followed by two weeks in the southern region of Andalucia. Open to students at all levels. Field trips. 6 credit hours.

Dance in Italy

Located in the Renaissance city of Urbino, this three-week intensive modern dance workshop will include daily technique class, development of performance skills and an on-site performance. 3 credit hours.

On-Site Studies in Art History

The Art History Department and the Office of International Education of the College of New Paltz, State University of New York, are offering, for the 20th summer, On-Site Studies in Art History. This is an intensive program of art historical study which each year examines the art of a specific geographical area and limited chronological span.

European Study Mission

The program in European politics consists of a three-week intensive session. The first two weeks will be held in Paris, France and the third week will be held in Brussels, Belgium. The program emphasizes European politics and culture. Undergraduate students will become familiar with the political culture that permeates French society, political actors and processes of policy making, and the interaction between French and European Union politics and policies through fieldwork.

Summer Studies in London

The summer program provides the opportunity to study from a wide selection of courses. Summer courses are drawn from the regular academic curriculum and offer credits which are recognized at most U.S. institutions. Class sizes are kept small to ensure an interactive and creative teaching style.

Summer Study in Athens, Greece

This program is designed to bring Greece closer to you. You study two courses at the foot of the Acropolis where the New York college campus is located. Each Thursday begins a four day trip to one of these destinations: Delphi, Olympia, Epidavros, the Korinth Canal, and Nafplio. Click on link to view course offerings.

Australian Eco Tour

Travel to Northern and Central Australia to learn about the ecosystem of this highly diverse and historically significant area in this southern hemisphere continent. Ideal for students and teachers interested in learning about the natural environment of Australia, strategies for planning and implementing field studies for instruction in environmental education in elementary and secondary schools and methods for interpreting national parks and other outdoor sites for the purpose of teaching the value of bio-diversity.

Latin American Studies in Ecuador

Travel to the Andean region of South America for a summer program of courses in an accredited program of Latin American Studies in Spanish. The Intensive Spanish Language and Latin American Studies Program provides students with an opportunity to develop their speaking, listening and reading comprehension and writing skills in Spanish in a concentrated format. It also provides them with opportunities to study and experience Latin American culture and civilization. Experience the rich live and diverse cultural expression of the multilingual and multiethnic Andean region. By doing this, students will be able to understand the three major influences (African, Andean Indigenous peoples, and European) that have shaped the particular character of the region.

Summer Studies in the U.S. Virgin Islands

Located in the Caribbean, the U.S. Virgin Islands consist of an estimated 70 islands, islets and cays of which three, St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix are inhabited and of significant size. While English is the spoken language of the Virgin Islands the blend of European and African cultures is evident in the culture, arts, language and cuisines of the islands. The summer program provides the opportunity to study from a wide selection of courses.
