The first thing you see when you start SimGolf is the Main Title Screen. You have several choices at this point. They should be fairly self-explanatory, but let's look at each one separately.

SimGolf Main Menu
SimGolf's Main Menu looks like this:
Play Golf
If you wish to start a game, click on Play Golf. The Play Golf Set-up Screen will pop up. From here you can set up a game for up to four players on your own computer. It also is the place to set up a multiple-player Internet or network game. Remember, use this only when you are the initiator of the game. (If someone else is setting up an Internet or network game and you wish to play, you must click Join Network Game.)
Practice
Click here if you'd like to begin a practice session. The Practice Set-up Screen will pop up. SimGolf lets you practice your driving, chipping and putting on an actual hole from a golf course, not on a separate driving range or putting green. At the start of each practice session, you'll be standing at the first tee of the course you've chosen. You can start practicing there, or you can move to any point on the course.
Join Network Game
When you click Join Network Game, remember the operative word is join. Use this only to join a game that someone else is setting up. If you are initiating the game, do this through the Play Golf command.
Cancel
Click on Cancel if you wish to return to the Main Title Screen.
Play Golf Set-up Screen
Before you begin playing golf, you will need to make decisions on how to set up your game. Some of these decisions (e.g.,which course to play, 9 or 18 holes, which clubs to bring, who to play with) you would face if you were playing a game of "real" golf.
The Play Golf Set-up Screen is your gateway to setting up a game of SimGolf. YouÆll be taking care of all the pre-game preparations here so that when you leave this screen, you'll find yourself at the tee, ready to start (or resume) a round of golf. After making adjustments to the settings, click on PLAY GOLF to start the game.
Once you set up a game, SimGolf will remember your settings. The next time you start a new game, SimGolf will load all the settings from the previous game. You can keep all the settings the same, change some of them, or change all of them. It's up to you.
