Command: Display/Modes/Text-Data < DMT >
Purpose: Full-screen Weaving display with data available
Information:
This is the primary display mode, since it is the only one
which shows the weave data and is available to all types of
video monitor.
The editor windows provide some similar capabilities.
The text-data mode is influenced by the Text Options
switches as well as the Options/Data switches.
Pressing a function key activates EGA/VGA Palette editing
once the last section of weaving is displayed.
Comments:
Display/Modes/Text-Data is like Print/Modes/Text-Data.

Command: Display/Modes/CGA < DMC >
Purpose: Menu--Select Color Graphics Adapter modes and palette
Information:
The Color Graphics Adapter (CGA) is the original IBM color
standard. It poses significant limitations compared to an
EGA or VGA system, both in the resolution possible and in
the number of simultaneous colors. Resolution determines
the maximum number of warp and weft threads displayable at
one time.
High resolution CGA graphics are displayed in "monochrome"--
forground/background colors only.
Low-Resolution CGA graphics allow only 3 colors plus
background--selectable from four "palettes."
Comments:
The 16 colors displayable in text mode are combined into 4
in CGA low-res graphics. This limits the display of multi-
color-generated patterns.
Warp-Face and weft-face weaves are not possible in monochrome
graphics modes.

Command: Display/Modes/CGA/Low < DMCL >
Purpose: Select low-res CGA graphics mode for displays
Information:
In this mode, your system can display 320 dots horizontally
and 200 dots vertically. This means up to 320 warp by 200
weft with Magnification Mode=0.
With Mag. Zoom=1 or more, a Horizontal factor of 10 with a
Vertical factor of 9 will provide nearly square blocks.
6:5 is slightly less effective.
Only three colors plus the background are visible. You can
change the palette of three colors and the background with
this menu or while the weaving is displayed. During a CGA
low-res display, the left and right arrow keys change the
background color and the up and down keys change the
palette of three "foreground" colors.
Comments:
The 16 colors displayable in text mode are combined into 4
in CGA low-res graphics. This limits the display of multi-
color-generated patterns.
The background color can be any of the 16 CGA colors.

Display/Graphics/Background Color

Command: Display/Modes/CGA/High < DMCH >
Purpose: Select Hi-res CGA graphics modes for displays
Information:
In this mode, your system can display 640 dots horizontally
and 200 dots vertically. This means up to 640 warp by 200
weft with Magnification Zoom Level = 0.
With Mag. Zoom of 1 or more, a Horizontal factor of 20 with
a Vertical factor of 9 will provide nearly square blocks.
12:5 is less effective, but still close.
Only one foreground and background color are available. You
can change the foreground color from this menu and the
background color with Display/Graphics/Background. During a
CGA hi-res weaving display, the up and down arrow keys
change the foreground to any of 16 colors.
You can reverse whether warp or weft are displayed with the
Display/Graphics Options/Warp-Weft Monochrome Pixels
options.
Comments:
No warp- or weft-face weavings in this mode.
This mode not available for VGA systems.
Background appears green on EGA systems.

Display/Graphics/Background Color

Command: Display/Modes/CGA/Palette < DMCP >
Purpose: Select one of four CGA low-res graphics palettes
Information:
The three "foreground" colors are determined by the
interaction of your weaving's color numbers and the current
display palette selected, as shown by the table below. You
can switch palettes while the weaving is displayed by using
the UpArrow and DownArrow keys; you have to edit the color
numbers in the weaving for other changes.
The background color is displayed by color numbers 4,8,12, &
16. The actual background color is determined by the
left/right arrow keys while the weaving is onscreen or the
Display/Graphics/Background option first (16 choices).

Comments:
Display #3, Composite Mono CGA, requires foreground 15;

Note that a weaving showing 16 colors in text mode will lose
its pattern when limited to the 4 concurrent colors of CGA
low-res mode.

Command: Display/Modes/CGA/Foreground < DMCF >
Purpose: Select one of 16 colors for CGA hi-res displays
Information:
The foreground color is not affected by the color numbers in
the weaving.
It can also be changed with up-down arrow keys while the
weaving is displayed.
Comments:
The graphics background color is always black in this mode,
except EGA displays where it is green.

Command: Display/Modes/EGA < DME >
Purpose: Menu--Select Enhanced Graphics Adapter modes
Information:
The Enhanced Graphics Adapter (EGA) is a significant
improvement to the original IBM color standard. It provides
16 simultaneous colors in high resolution graphics modes;
colors are selectable from a palette of 64.
Comments:
The 16 colors displayable in text mode remain simultaneously
visible in graphics modes and can be adjusted from the
palette of 64. This provides continuity between text and
graphics modes.
Warp-Face and weft-face weaves can be displayed in high
resolution EGA modes.

Purpose: Select low-res EGA graphics mode for displays
Information:
In this mode, your system can display 320 dots horizontally

Information:
In this mode, your system can display 640 dots horizontally

Command: Display/Modes/EGA/High < DMEH >
Purpose: Select Hi-res EGA graphics mode for displays
Information:
In this mode, your system can display 640 dots horizontally
and 350 dots vertically. This means up to 640 warp by 350
weft with Magnification Zoom of 0.
With Mag. Zoom 1 or more, a Horizontal factor of 4 with a
Vertical factor of 3 will provide square blocks. Maintain
this 4:3 ratio for other magnifications.
Comments:
This mode requires an Enhanced Display.

Display/Graphics/Background Color

Command: Display/Modes/VGA-MCGA < DMV >
Purpose: Menu--Select MCGA and VGA modes for display
Information:
The Multi-Color Graphics Adapter (MCGA) enhances the CGA
standard with thousands of colors and a higher resolution
monochrome mode with a 1:1 ratio making square blocks easy.
The Video Graphics Array (VGA) adds the additional MCGA
capibilities plus the additional palette for the EGA modes
and an additional 16-color high resolution mode equal to
MCGA's monochrome high res.
Comments:
While MCGA is technically capable of 256 simultaneous
colors, Patternland supports 16 simultaneous colors from the
palette of 262,144 colors.
While the weaving is displayed in VGA modes, the MCGA/VGA
palette controller can be activated by pressing a function
key.
CGA modes are not supported. If you must use one, you can
use setup to temporarily reset your display for CGA. Then
you can select a CGA mode.
