About the Games

The new installments of the PokΘMon series are the Gold and Silver versions! These two games differ from previous PokΘMon games in many ways, and our goal is to spoil it all for you :).
Contrary to previous beliefs of mine, the game IS a sequel, rather than a prequel to the other PokΘMon games. Being a sequel, there's many new gadgets worth mentioning. One of which would be the PokΘGear. PokΘGear!
The PokΘGear's a new revolution in technology! It's a Watch, Telephone, and Radio in one! ::holds up the PokΘGear with a cheesy saleman smile:: Anyhow, yes, it's a Telephone and Radio. You talk to people, and you get their phone numbers, and sooner or later, you may have a nice chat with them and find valuable information which your very life can depend on. More or less. The radio is somewhat the same, except you listen to talk radio from Professor Oak (Maybe it's Gary Oak *shrug*). Chances are you could listen to music with the radio too.
And yes, it's also a watch. The game IS in real-time, so the ever-so-handy PokΘGear can help you manage your time. More will be explained later.
It's said that this game will have over 250 monsters, each having their own gender! And THAT means the PokΘMon get to get m-a-r-r-i-e-d and...*ahem*...mate with each other and have b-a-b-i-e-s! Baby Pikachus! How cute is THAT! And Butterfrees could have Caterpies and such...ooH! CUTE! PokΘMon can also have eggs, which you raise as virtual pets. PokΘMon eggs also take the slots of PokΘMon on your 6-PokΘMon-belt.
There's also new PokΘBalls for you to use, and are now much more complex. You have to use certain PokΘBalls to catch certain types of PokΘmon. This means basically, if you see a Water PokΘMon, you'll need a Water Ball to catch it. Marril!
The PokΘMon will be more realistic, as they will be diurnal and nocturnal, meaning you'd actually have to wait for them to wake up at a certain time of day for them to fight. As mentioned, the game has a clock, which plays important roles in the game. For example, special events happens on special days of the year, or any particular days of the week, or months. The time might also affect the PokΘMon's performance in battle.
Gold and Silver is also in one form or another backward compatible with the previous versions of PokΘMon. You'll somehow be able to transfer PokΘMon from old PokΘMon games to Gold and Silver, perhaps triggering a special evolution only attainable through this process. Because the old versions are set at a time behind Gold and Silver, the Cable Link Club will call their Cable Link center a "Time Capsule." How would the old games handle this? I have NO idea. The hero will now be able to use a skateboard rather than a bike for his travels.
The Menu, which you activate with the Start button, has also been modified. The menu now contains the following:
  • PokΘMon - A list of the 6 PokΘMon or PokΘMon eggs you have. As mentioned before, PokΘMon eggs take up positions of the PokΘMon.
  • Backpack - Items, in a nutshell. Or rather, in a backpack ^.^ The Backpack is much more organised than the Items. The backpack is split into 4 pockets: Items, for normal items such as Potions and Antidotes; Balls, for the PokΘBalls you have; Confrontation (?), for the Skateboard and PokΘGear; and Technique Machines, for TMs and HMs.
  • PokΘGear - PokΘDex, radio, telephone
  • Gold (Name of character) - Statistics for the Hero
  • Settings - Technical options for the game
  • Exit - Exit the Menu

Trainers

Hiroki
Hiroki

Hiroki is the hero of the new PokΘMon Gold. He apparently likes the colors red and yellow, as his entire outfit consists of the two colors. On his left wrist, he has the handy PokΘGear. Other default choices for his name are: Gold, Tetsuo, or Takashi.

Kamon
Kamon

Kamon's the rival of Hiroki, and possibly the hero of PokΘMon Silver. He sports groovy red hair, and seems rather serious and sleak. He may look evil, or in some ways or another dark, but I still think he's groovy ^.^. Other possibilities for Kamon's name are: Silver, Tooru, and Masao.

Gym Leaders

Hayato, Tsukushi, Akane, Matsuba, Shijima, Mikan, Yanagi, Ibuki, ???

New PokΘMon

Togepi
Togepi

Togepi first appeared in Episode 46, when Ash finds an egg in a canyon. However, Togepi didn't officially appear until Episode 50, when the egg finally hatches. However, before this miracle of life happens, Team Rocket had gotten their hands on the egg. But naturally, poor Team Rocket never gets away with their devious plan (WHY NOT?!?) and Ash and gang finds them, and challenge them to a battle. While the battle took place, the egg, which at the time Misty was holding, HATCHED! Therefore, Togepi is officially Misty's, as naturally most creatures get imprinted to the one they see first in their life.

It's also worth mentioning that some of Togepi's abilities include Teleport, Barrier, and new moves, "Amaeru" (to act like a spoiled brat), and Finger wag.
Chikoriita
Chikoriita

A grass-type PokΘMon. Chikoriita is one of the three beginning PokΘMon of Gold and Silver.

Hinoarashi
Hinoarashi

A Fire PokΘMon. Hinoarashi's name translates into "Storm of Fire." It resembles a hedgehog, and is also one of the three beginning PokΘMon

Waninoko
Waninoko

"Crocodile's child," as its name implies. Waninoko is a Water PokΘMon which is also one of the starting PokΘMon in PokΘMon Gold/Silver.

Marill
Marill

Another new PokΘMon worth noting that's going to appear in PokΘMon Gold/Silver would be Marrill, an aquatic balloon and mouse PokΘMon. Marill first appeared in the featurette "Pikachu's Vacation" in "PokΘMon: the First movie".

Snubble
Snubble

Okay...it's a...dog...a rather odd dog, at that. Okay, let's think of the possibilities...looks like either Normal or Psychic, eh? Well, look at Mr. Mime! He looks like a clown! This dog looks like a clown! Anyhow, seems like his first appearance was in the featurette "Pikachu's Vacation," along with Marril.

Houou
Houou

Hey, ever seen the first PokΘMon episode? Ever notice the bird at the end? Guess what? This is the bird. I have NO idea what type it is...it could even be a Ghost PokΘMon for all I know. However, Houou is the star PokΘMon in PokΘmon Gold. And it's pronounced "Hoh oh".

Kireihana
Kireihana

Not much is known about Kireihana, however, I can tell you that its name means "Pretty flower". So, we can be sure it's a grass PokΘMon.

Hoohoo
Hoohoo

Yes, it's a one-footed, short-winged owl. Don't ask.
